    Can't think of the word...

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by loss4words, Dec 30, 2015.

I have been trying to think of a word to complete a sentence in my story and I absolutely cannot think of it.

----When you're arguing with someone, then you open your mouth to speak but instead you close it, clenching your jaw.----

A writer friend told me "grimace" but the word I am looking for is a little less pained and a little more pissed.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I think the cliche would be "bit back an angry retort" or something along those lines...

Yep. I don't think there's a single word to describe this action and the reason for it. You have to draw it the way Bayview did above.
