    Printing Coffee Table Book

Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by balgay, Aug 13, 2024.

I was not sure where to post this. I am planning to have a coffee table style book printed in the UK. I do not intend to publish it as I only need a small number of copies for close relatives. Can anyone recommend a print company? There are so many to choose from on the web. Also welcome any advice on this project. TIA

Can you use one of the photo-book type companies?

I had a surprise birthday party recently (mainly because my friends know that I hate surprises and hate being the centre of attention so decided it was a good idea); part of the surprise was that my son and one of my good friends solicited photos to make into a rolling slide show at the party (which was amazing, events I had long since forgotten, pictures I have never even seen including one from a newspaper!)

Long story short - one of the guys had the reel made into a photo book. He used "cewe photobook" and the result is great.

That's a great idea, Hammer. I never thought of that angle. As most of the pages will be 100% type might not be an option. There are only about ten photos in the book. I will check cewe out, though and see if they could handle that much type. Their sizes are more what I had in mind than the print companies I have checked out.

I have had a look at cewe's software and it looks as though it can manage a text heavy photobook. Also got a prompt reply confirming that point so I have decided to run with it. Thanks for the suggestion, Hammer.

Excellent --my pleasure-- I hope it works out for you; do let us know; I suspect a number of us could benefit from a similar venture. I have toyed with a similar idea myself and not thought too deeply about how to go about it. When you asked the question, the answer clicked into place...

I will report back but probably not for a while. It is a big project.
