Multiple stories and characters in the same universe.

Discussion in 'Research' started by Sriliko, Aug 1, 2013.

So I am looking for stories/books that have multiple sets of main characters that each tie in to each other. Somewhat like
Characters in group 1 and 2 (maybe more) each have their own story lines but effect each other, but help the story progress towards its end point? Looking in the Scifi/ Fantasy genera. One of the only ones i can think of is how Farscape plays out, but was hoping to have more of a look at each side in depth not just the "good guys" point of view. Or lets say there are multiple groups of "good guys" If that makes any sense.

The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett
The Elemental Masters by Mercedes Lackey
Heralds of Valdemar, also by Mercedes Lackey
And, of course, the TV show Heroes.

The only story like this that I'm aware of is the film "Crash." Sorry, if this isn't what you're looking for, but watching it could help you get an idea of what works and what doesn't work (don't ask me what does and what doesn't because I don't know).

I think the Horus Heresy counts towards this. Long series but well worth reading.

Lord of the Rings is a classic example!
