Tommy Emmanuel plays a Beatles medley, along with Classical Gas at the end.

Tommy Emmanuel has more brains in his right hand than I have in my whole head.

I like watching Jon Gomm do impossible things with an acoustic guitar:

That's sick. My right hand is brain dead, and I suck at finger-picking, but I make it for it with my left.

for some reason though im not a big fan.
ive never heard him play something that really moved me. Hes clever and deft. His skills are to be admired. Maybe its his choice of music i dont like.

Wow! How much did he pay for that unique instrument? And does he always practice while surrounded by millions of dollars' worth of classic cars?

    Impressive.

    (1) Legend says the gods of fingerstyle awarded him the instrument.
    (2) Doesn't everyone?

I think they used to call his left hand technique the "hammer-on from nowhere" in the old tablature books. That always sounded grandiose to me. Hard to do, though, fretting the notes without picking the string. Gotta really whack em to be heard, especially on an acoustic.

Yngwie can play the living crap out of the guitar, but it just seems to me that every phrase he plays has one purpose: it's to show everyone that he has the biggest dick in the guitar-playing world. I can't stand listening to him.

I'd rather listen to David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Thompson, BB King, and any number of other musicians than the batch of hyperspeed shredders Yngwie is a member of.

Rodrigo y Gabriela do a lot of fantastic flamenco covers. They range from Zeppelin and Van Halen to Barry Manilow. They both can play, but I think she is the better and more dynamic of the two.

I agree with this. it has become more about the guitarist, not their music. The video seems more important than the music. the question is ...can you enjoy the artist just as much, listening, without the video? Any great artist is pointing to the music itself , not themselves. Maybe there is a link there for writing. Any great writer is pointing to the story and its characters. The art is bigger is bigger than the artist.

A good cover of a song makes you see the real potential it didn't reach in the original.
