I have a few questions. a)In the British police force or more preferably a third world country(former British colony) which has inherited the British police system, who is sent "to the field" to do investigation of a murder scene? Is it someone with the rank Inspector? I'm trying to figure out what police rank to give my main character(who will be running around here and there doing the investigation and calling from help from the necessary department if needed). b)Is the *insert rank of the one doing investigation* necessarily given a partner? c)If the answer to b) is yes, then is the partner of the same rank or of lower rank? If lower rank, what is the name of the rank? I did a search but the results found says that the CSI's are the ones who do the investigations. https://explorehealthcareers.org/career/forensic-science/crime-scene-investigator/ . But I'm not sure if all countries use the same system. Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks.
A member of CID, the Criminal Investigation Department of the police force. They are detectives, and their rank can be anything from constable upwards. The ranks are the same as normal police ranks with the word "detective" in front, e.g. Detective Constable, Detective Inspector. Possibly, possibly not. A more serious crime might have a team of detectives, supplemented by uniformed officers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_Investigation_Department#United_Kingdom
Find the nearest innocent person and bring a malicious prosecution against them so you can claim you got a "result"
