Is there a way to make a backup of your posts/data?

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Set2Stun, Sep 29, 2023.

I've been meaning to ask about this ever since that scare where the site was inaccessible for a short time. I know it turned out to not be a big deal or anything, but it did get me worried. It seemed possible that I could have lost everything I've written here. In particular, I would really like the ability to occasionally back up my progress journal.

Is there some option to do this that I have overlooked? Can't find anything, though I might not be looking in the right places. I can always do the ole copy/paste or take screenshots, but I was hoping that maybe there was an easier way to do this that's already available. Thanks !

nope - the only way we have to make back ups is via the database which is a daniel only function, i'd tend to suggest cut and paste is your best bet

You could do it yourself, by downloading your journal page by page as PDF files that you can store on a hard drive or print up. Actually you might want to experiment with what format to save as. PDFs might not work the best. You might be better to highlight the entire page, copy, and paste it into a word processor and then export from there in whatever format you prefer.

I just checked. It works fine to Export as PDF on the message board, such as a progress journal, but not so much on a blog.

EDIT—Huh, weird. I just tried a different blog page and this time it worked fine. The first page I tried, the option to Export as PDF was greyed out, I don't know why. Might have to do with a picture on the page or something. But anyway, at least sometimes it works for a blog too.

Those things are probably a function of your browser and browser settings, they aren’t inherent to the site

    Yeah, I'm sure that's true.
