Hello and welcome to the Roleplay Interest Thread. Before posting here, please read the Roleplay Forum rules. GMs you may post your Roleplay Game ideas below. Players, please like the posts of games you are interested in joining. I as the mini-mod will respond to a GM’s post with notes on the unique rules and approval/denial. I will be as fair as possible and once approved, you can make an Out Of Character Thread (OOC Thread) in the Roleplay Discussion Forum. Here is the Game Master Template: Roleplay Name: GM Username: Roleplay Type and Genre: (list original or the fandom): Unique GM Rules: Writing Style: Expected Number of Character Parts: Plot: Setting: Location/Time Era: Other Notes:
General Interest Inquiry: Would anyone here be interested in an Fandom-based roleplay? I was thinking about Dark Souls, or something anime? I also like the Percy Jackson series or Narnia. I am just wondering if anyone else is interested in a fanfic style roleplay, too. (Of course I will still be in the vampires roleplay.) I know I did not clarify above, but I will now. If you have ideas or just want to see who may be interested in the same work/story idea, please post it here.
As per the I wrote in the forum rules, I am posting here a possible modification for 'It Began in a Tavern' Roleplay rules: The max number of writers to be capped at 7. This is so the group remains small enough to foster understanding, consistency, and smoothness of gameplay. After the 7 seat 'table' is filled, we can make ANOTHER roleplay in the same world for others if they want to join. Then, if that happens, up to 3 people can write in both if they are able. Because we want seats for new-comers, but also it could be interesting to write two separate stories in the same world. What are your thoughts? I am posting this for opinions and thoughts. Please reply here, not the OOC thread.
I think this is a good approach. If the roleplay gets too big with players, it might start suffering from it. New players will also struggle to join at some point (especially if it becomes big), so this solution takes care of that. We should totally go with it!
Thank you! I suggested this rule because getting too big would cause RP Chaos. And I didn't think about new players, but you're right. I am going to keep this open this weekend until Tuesday for more input from everyone. Depending on what I hear from others, I will 'tally votes' and implement this rule if more are for than against.
I like the player cap for sure, but I think it would be much better if a separate roleplay was opened that takes place in a different world. This allows for not only a universe change but a genre change as well, as not all roleplayers are interested in just one genre. I've been considering starting one myself. Possibly a one-on-one sort of romance arc behind a series of main storyline in the genre of interest. Or a multiplayer one if there is interest. I view a multiplicity of genres in the roleplay section as something that has a better chance of keeping the forum section alive. Its sad downfall a number of years ago was one of the few reasons I took a few year hiatus from this site. I'd like to see it revived again because of how much I learned in this section.
You’re right. I agree that we should not have a weird multiverse RP format. Yes, we could use another game around here! Please feel free to begin your own story game once you have come up with a premise. We need different RP games around here.
It depends on what genre people are up for. Maybe a poll could be called for. I can go with anything really, though if there's already fantasy I'd probably steer wide of that unless desired.
Yes, I would be interested in something different than fantasy, for a change. The problem with a romance is that it really only involves two people, unless we include it in a wider world - how about two very different families coming together?
A poll could work, but getting people to do one is the trick. I think people are more likely to join if they find the concept/story interesting. It is also important that the GM likes the story as it will be yours until it ends. So, I suggest writing something YOU want to play and I am sure others will want to join. The one I'm doing I stated I wanted something Fantasy and Magic. If you need brainstorming help, make a 'New Roleplay TBA' (Lore Thread) and I would be happy to help. I am not sure if I am interest in a romance story, but am happy to get it up and running. Edit: I could also take a seat in the 7 slots (or whatever) that is temporary so we will have 3 to begin.
Eek, I never thought about this, but yeah. It could be a romance story like Romeo and Juliet, but it's about the families, too. Not to mention with all those other characters in the same story, romance is sure to spark between a lot of them.
As we have a 'Traditional Roleplay Beginner/example guide' I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me create a guide for Round Robin Style. Like the traditional, it would be done by example. So we would need to write 2-3 round robin posts of something random for example. I wanted another person's assistance as I wanted a variety of writing style.
That's doable. 3 total posts would perfectly align with the three-act structure! The first post would cover the beginning, second the middle, and third the end. I can help with that.
Awesome! Thank you so much! Would you like to do it in the Conversations/Private Messages or just have me make a thread that is under construction?
I'm planning on doing a horror themed one, round robin style. I could do a write up example of this as well.
YAY! So excited to see this plan. As for the example write up, yeah. Go for it! I will write a short piece, then @ps102 and then you. That way, we'll have 3 people and a better idea of how it goes. As for your round-robin, I am so excited! Please modify the 'RP template' to your needs. I think I need to fix it at some point here. It's not quite made for RR games.
Any of this is fine. It's a small 3-post project so it shouldn't be ginormous trouble. But it is a good idea to try and make it as good as possible by planning ahead. 3-posts is reasonable for that
Awesome. I am thinking about keeping it short. So, 200 words max. It's merely an example, so should be short and concise for the reader.
It was the unfun. I was the foreman, and after 4 days of deliberation we ended in a mistrial. Happy days...
