Short Story cant figure out a title for my story

Discussion in 'Genre Discussions' started by Actionman, Jan 10, 2018.

I'm writing a short story about a person who makes fun of disabled/ill people throughout his life, then one day he becomes disabled/ill himself and his whole perspective of disability changes and takes that as an opportunity to re-learn the basics of life.

But i cant figure out what i should put for the title, any help is appreciated

I find that, sometimes, a title comes to me as I'm writing - as a phrase, word, or set of words I used along the way that has a lot of meaning to the central theme or plot. Other times, the title doesn't come to me until after I'm done with the first draft.

If there's a place or part of the setting where the most important events take place, that's an option. The story I'm writing now is named after the night club where all the events take place that wouldn't have if the character had never been there.

Same goes with the name of a character, i.e. Stephen King's Delores Claiborne, among other stories titled the same way.

You can also use an idea or concept that's relevant to the core of the story, but it's you're choice if you want to be on the nose about it or more abstract. Another story I'm working on is called "The Witching Hour", but has nothing to do with the dead or ghosts in a literal way; in my mind perfectly encapsulates the story otherwise.

If you're still in the writing process, I wouldn't worry about it too much :)
