shorter but still too long for workshop

Discussion in 'Collaboration' started by B.E. Nugent, Jul 15, 2024.

Anyone interested to look over a story, just shy of 4k words. Looking for honest opinion and will reciprocate as requested.

    I'm interested!

...although 4k sounds like a reasonable length for the workshop to me at least.

4k is totally reasonable for the Workshop. Maybe you’d get more critiques at a lower word count, but I’ve posted longer stories there before without issue.

Yeah, me too. There's a few other reasons, to be honest, one primary being that I regularly submit stories I've posted here out to various publications. I've entered a couple of competitions, too, and am just a bit nervous that, even though it's closed to members only, having it workshopped might emerge as an issue if, in the unlikely event, some of those might be accepted. Also, the last effort I tried this way worked very well for what I needed, with a back and forward process that, in that fashion, went a bit deeper into text and meaning than might be typical in workshop. Not that I won't workshop again, just trying out a few things, I'm invested in getting this one right, reckon I haven't and might need the patience that comes from someone willing to work with me off camera. And if that doesn't putcha off...

I'd give a gander if you still want some eyeballs on it.

I was thinking of sending it directly without waiting for an offer but thought it maybe presumptuous. On its way.
