What's the best redemption story you've read? What redeemed the character and what made it so appropriate? I'm trying to write one so am just sorta doing research
I'm not sure I'd call it the best, but I still have a sneaking fondness for Superior and its sequel Superior Cross. They're about a mass-murdering overlord who meets a messianic pacifist and follows him out of curiosity. They're as funny and idealistic as the subject matter can realistically allow, but they're not afraid to be frank about the consequences of the MC's choices, and they're the only believable redemption I've ever seen for a character who intentionally committed genocide.
