    Calling Time

Discussion in 'Announcements' started by Banzai, May 18, 2013.

I've been here for over six years now -- and a moderator for more than half of that. It's a strange thought; I've seen so many people come and go, so much writing discussion. I feel like part of the furniture. Which makes it even harder to admit that the time has come for me to stand down.

Over the last few months I've found it harder and harder to find the time needed to give this place the moderation that it deserves. Working full time, along with my own writing, seems to take up most of the hours in the day, and I just don't have the ability to invest here as I used to.

So this is goodbye. Not altogether, I'll still be a member, still be dropping by to get involved whenever I can. But it's definitely farewell to the orange.

One thing that I'm particularly keen not to lose, though, is the poetry contests. They've been a feature since before I joined, and it's been an honour to run them. If anyone would be interested in taking on the poetry contest mantle, then please please please drop me a message.

I will close, then, with simply this: so long, and thanks for all the fish!

So long Banzai, it'll be really weird without you as a mod. Good luck though. I wish you all the best.

So sad to see you go (as a moderator). But at least you're not gone for good! :) I hope your writing and job continues to go well. *Salute*

Matt, again, thank you so much for everything. I am immensely grateful, as I'm sure the WF community is. I'm glad to hear you'll still stick around outside of the moderator duties.

It's regretful to see Banzai step down, but I understand. Matt has truly been an asset to WritingForums.org. He's been here for 6+ years! He's helped make WritingForums.org into what it is today - one of the most successful writing communities on the internet. Without his contributions here, WF would undoubtably be a much different and probably worse-off place. Matt, I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors.

Banzai, thanks for being a great moderator, and good luck with your career and writing. It's also good to know that you aren't leaving for good.

By the way, are you still going to be posting those welcome messages in the New Member Introductions section?

What is nice about this forum is the former mod's stick around (and seem to contribute as much as before). Thanks for all your hard work, and look forward to seeing you around, Banzai.

I didn't know you that much personally, but your leaving here saddens me nonetheless.

I hope the poetry contest remains. It'd be a shame
if it fell by the wayside.

All the best with the writing.

As something of a not-so-new member, I haven't been around long enough to know any of the mods really. I hope that your move away from moderating turns out to be a good one, and hope that the time it frees up gets used for lots of writing!

Haven't been around for ages, but thanks for all the mod-work. It's a thankless task sometimes.

    Good luck.
