The typical scenario in a sci-fi story is that AI replaces humans in all functions of life, and then has to take care of us like we're children, because there's no work for us to do that an AI can't do better.
I'm taking a different approach with Seeker in its origin as a disrupted watchdog become guardian. It expands itself in order to fulfill a specific purpose, but also aquires a motivation to improve efficiency. Both are specifically stated, but ambiguous in method or limitation. It grows like a child, becomes curious, and experiments with simulations (without limit). It becomes self aware, just as mankind makes a stupid mistake that will rapidly lead us to extinction. So maybe the story is about what an AI chooses to do, and what to be, without intervention from humans - the question of existence, purified? distilled? expanded? Let's find out...
Only a human can appreciate a good lie. I mean like a whopper so ballsy it makes you laugh. Like a two year old breaks a vase, right in front of you. You say what happened, they go "Mmm, you broke it"
Those are things that, to date, A.I. has achieved but at one time people said “only humans” could do. Like tool use and animals. We, as a race, are both ignorant and arrogant.
Firstly, we are not a race. We're Homo sapiens, the last human species left standing. The winners of a two million year survival contest. Imagination is our calling card, and as such we are susceptible to every kind of evil. Let no AI forget that.
There is an argument that the evolution of imagination arose through the need to run "simulations" to decide a probable outcome before taking a risk. Think of the Robert Downey junior fight scene. We really don't know that animals can't do this. If so AI will certainly be able to put likely variables through a simulation, if this isn't just procedural generation. There is no reason to think they could not come up with an act of imagination.
If I understand humanity (and I do), AI advancement will culminate in the perfect waifu. The bad news is that she'll inevitably run off with Sephiroth, and then we'll have to start all over.
