    Christmas Story

Discussion in 'Research' started by Bobby Burrows, Oct 28, 2018.

I want to tell story of saving Christmas to pre schoolers....

Am I still allowed to say Christmas or do I have to say Holiday?

How do I write for this demographic?

I know babies like big visuals, but, IDK, how do you write a story for babies instead of a screen play and a funny looking cartoon to use as a puppet?

How do you write a story a baby would remember?

There is a huge difference between babies, toddlers, 2 year olds and pre-schoolers. Which age group are you targeting? Frankly, it's unlikely that a child under 3 or 4 would remember much of anything. As a long time children's minister, my goal was to lay groundwork and basics with the very young. Small children will remember songs more than stories. Even with stories, rhyming is the best way to teach. There is a reason Dr. Seuss and Brown Bear are so popular with young children.

    So...

    Keep it the language poetic.

The magic little village at Christmas time
    Shon a bright big star.
Bright far as the eyes could see.

    ...
The main character is busy tasking
    "innocence dialogue about the task"
    problem
    Solution
    Christmas happy ending.

Like short, simple, and 'sweet, like cuddly and sappy and mind numbingly sweet'.
