Hi all, I'm Ben, been writing (for my on pleasure/escapism) for about three years now, find it immensely relaxing and rewarding in that no matter what kind of day I've had, once I start hitting the keyboard life becomes tranquil once again. I write mostly fiction and poetry. Looking forward to joining in and getting some guidance along the way. Regards Ben.
Hello Ben, glad to meet you and glad that you find some escape in your writing (I usually find frustration, but I keep trying). I think you'll find this a friendly place, so (if you haven't already) take a look at the New Member Quick Start and Forum Rules and have a wander about. There are a number of active threads on everything from tips and tricks to plot and character development, worldbuilding, poetry, and pretty much everything else that pops into our heads. Once you've met your membership requirements, you'll be able to post your work in The Workshop, but until then don't be shy about finding something there that's up your alley and offering some critique. It never hurts to stay ahead of the game. Anyway, it's good to have you aboard, and I hope you find this a fun and productive place to be.
...or ...just go and make a cup of tea? @Ben Hill I see you've listed General Fiction as your preferred genre. Any particular subjects you prefer to write about?
I wonder how much abuse I'd get if I said I think cats are just murderous vermin that look cute. and if you need to control rats, get a terrier. Just a thought.
Yikes! Is it fair to say, "cleanup on aisle 9"? "Your Honor, I regret my part in the Cat-yclism of 2019. I merely suggested that people have faith in the benevolent Wish Troll. I will accept the consequences of my actions. However, my own faith remains unshaken. I put myself at the mercy of the court." - excerpt of SG's remarks at his sentencing hearing.
Hi, yeah, got quite a bit of stick at school with kids coming up and slapping on the head, don't see him on TV now though as he's not politically correct these days. Tried to checkout your reply to my post but can't find the post? Sure it was in general writing? All the best. Ben...with no E.....
I was attracted to this thread because the main character in my novel is a child pop star who plays the piano very fast and writes her own songs. Sometimes people call her a "keyboard basher". Then she looks like Steelpike's avatar. She does that when she's embarrassed. She's not fast on the computer though. There it is Columbus method: discover and land.
