    Early Drafts

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by Fedora, Jun 4, 2010.

I was browsing Wikipedia the other day when I came across a picture of a yellowed, coffee-stained early draft of 1984. It was really cool to see all of the strikethroughs and rearrangements, especially when comparing them to the finished version. Of course, that got me thinking: are there any early drafts of famous books available to the public? (I mean, there has to be an early version of War and Peace scribbled down on a napkin somewhere.) Not only as a curiosity, of course, but as an insight into the editing process.

  2. There is one of War and Peace. I think it's called War and Peace: Original Version. Other than that, I don't know of earlier drafts for any other books (at least not any that are available to the public).
