Breaking someone out of a detainment camp

Discussion in 'Military Fiction Discussions' started by big soft moose, Apr 28, 2017.

So in the darkest storm , my protagonist Dusty (an ex royal marine / special forces now working as a hit man and/or body guard ) and his 'friend' Elin (a PI specialising in honey traps and fidelity tests) have gone to a distopian near future america to rescue his gay friend Aldo from a treatment (read concentration) camp (its more complicated than that - but that's a bare outline)

So the question is how to effect a rescue ? (baring in mind that by this point they have gathered a small number of helpers (so a unit of 4 or 5)

    I see three possible options

    a) the brass balls approach of walking in dressed as federal security (read SS) with forged papers demnding his transfer for investigation... the camp guards would be in fear of the FS and not ask too many questions - the same way that SOE operators in ww2 sometimes dressed as SS or SD

    b) intercepting a prisoner transfer through the expedient of ramming the prison van off the road with a stolen truck the going in with flash bangs, gunfire etc.

    c) staging a mass breakout by blowing a large hole in the fencing and attackig the camp itself - may not be practical without a lot more man power

    thoughts are welcome

Another post I didn't see until too late. Sorry! :(

    a) Which kind of technology do we talk about? How hard is it to forge these kind of papers? If possible, I like the bravado :)
    b) Might be the easiest, but seems a bit 'seen before'. Also, option a) would offer more possibility of troubles and words
    c) They'd have to make contact with the detainees before to get max effect. Which would really make this good, if you can pull it off.

I've pretty much decided they are doing (a) but with captured ID rather than forged - this also gives the potential for it all to go horribly wrong getting Dusty temporarily captured , leading eventually to (c)
