    Please welcome our new moderators.

Discussion in 'Announcements' started by Writing Forums Staff, Nov 16, 2020.

Firstly we are sorry to announce that @Iain Aschendale has decided to step down from the staff team. Iain has been a great asset to the team and we will miss him. We wish him the best with his writing and with his time here as a normal member (relatively normal in any case).

On a more positive note the eagle eyed among you will have already noted that @Lifeline @Selbbin and @Homer Potvin have joined the staff team. All are established members who need no introduction, and I'm sure you all join with us in welcoming them to the team.

Well it was sad to see @jannert and @Iain Aschendale both retire from the mod team since I’d gotten used to them both as staff members over time. But congratulations to @Lifeline @Selbbin and @Homer Potvin. Hope you all enjoy your duties as staff members etc etc.

Wow, it takes three to replace me! Just kidding, best of luck to you all and it's good to see the team getting up to strength again.

Now let's see what trouble I can start over here....:twisted:o_O

For some reason, I am reminded of Evil Dead 3. I can't think why.

Wow, big changes while I was away! @Iain Aschendale & @jannert it's actually weird to think of you as not being mods. Gonna take a little getting used to. And for the new recruits, enjoy your time among the power elite. Will there be a swearing-in ceremony, or just lots of swearing? :p

They have to go out into the wilds armed only with a spear and bring back the hide of a full grown spamalope, which will then be tanned with troll brains and tailored into the 'mod hat'

Sounds like a good description of a moderator's first day on the board.

A peaceful transition of power conducted with civility and decorum. Congrats folks.

    I think that'll be it.

Thank you all for the welcome, young or old. I won't say which is which ;) 'Moderator' being similar to 'moderate', which just means I'll try not to step on too many toes while I'm learning.

Congratulations @Lifeline @Selbbin and @Homer Potvin. At least @Iain Aschendale won't feel quite so restrained any longer; I see he's already burning the house down.

Congrats to you three! You make great additions to the mod team. And thank you @Iain Aschendale for your work a mod. I'm sorry to see you step down, but I'm glad you'll still be sticking around and participating on the forum.

I used to be a flash fiction writer, you may see me sooner than you think (although I don't even remember submitting that prompt, so rest assured if I do enter the current contest it will be with something that I don't even have a glimmering of yet).

Apparently, you submitted the prompt almost 4 years ago! It's starting to get to the point where we're running out of ideas, so this is a good time to remind people to please submit ideas for prompts. I promise I'll use them eventually, even if it's a few years later.

Ok, I FINALLY found a spamalope, which are not very common in Aus (I had to hack into the virtual zoo, long story, might be in jail for a while), so how do I tan this thing?

Well, borrowing from my elders who threatened to tan my hide, a belt or big stick ought to do it.

Ideally you need the brains of a troll - this can be complicated because many trolls don't actualy seem to have a brain... but if you can't find one you can use a can of four X (since i know your guys don't actually drink it)

Yeah, isn't a Troll Brain an oxymoron?

You know why they call it XXXX?
Because it's by people who can't spell BEER.

I assumed it was because on tasting it for the first time Australians scream "what is this XXXX?"

Actually, the alternate is: they're not allowed to call it BEER. The northerners love it though.
