Can you answer my Dad's writing question?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Davi Mai, Aug 16, 2020.

(bearing in mind that he's lost most of his marbles. This is one of his less weird emails)

I am searching for a term... I did know it, but it refers to a story I may construct that mixes up time and invention... say I was to be writing about Richard the Lionheart in a Crusade battle... things not looking good.. Saladin gaining the upper hand... Richard gets on the phone and calls for back up via his F 16's.... so what is that grammatical term for such a construct?

I wanted to reply that he's just talking about "alternate history" But it sounds like he thinks there's a more specific, elegant term than that?

It's not really grammatical, but I think anachronism is what he means.
