    Does This Happen To You?

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by Cerrus, Aug 8, 2011.

Hello Everyone. I have a question for everyone when you're writing. To me I feel that I can write a thousand words in a story, but it only takes me a few seconds to read. Is it because I wrote it all so I kind of know what's going to happen? But when I read someone else's writing at the same amount of words it takes me a couple minutes. Does this happen to any of you?

I get it sometimes and I think its probably because you've remembered what you've written.

It's because you know what you've written. It's why you should leave your writing for a while before editing. You know it all, so you just skip over stuff that you would have caught in someone elses work. Though I often feel like that with stuff I have written ages ago as well. Guess I still remember what I'm trying to convey even if I don't remember exactly what I have written.
