The man operates a lighthouse. By turning off all the lights... Well, you can see what the consequences would be.

I know this is a forum for writing, but what is the one word that almost everyone spells wrong?

Right! Perhaps we should all add a new riddle whenever we answer another one.

    I'll just put one in.

    What is the answer? 23,42,63,23,53,21,81,32.

as this is a riddle and not a code breaker. im going to try at a few answers.

    what IS the answer

the pattern ends with a period, ending the pattern so there is no answer.

subtracting the numbers from one another gives a strange result.
    23,42,63,23,53,21,81,32.
    -1, 2, 3 , -1, 2, 3, 7, 1, (almost a pattern)

    also, 11

I can't figure it out Evelyanin, but I just noticed this forum is a LOT older than I thought it was...apparently it's been around since the days of King Artxerxes III. ;)

No clue on the latest, however here's a new one:
A man walks into a bar and asks for a glass of water, instead, the barman reaches under the counter and produces a gun, which he points at the man's head. He then puts the gun back under the counter and the man walks out of the bar, satisfied.
    Why?

my mate told me the answer, the bloke has hiccups, and the bartender points a gun at him to scare them out of him.

    a basic one:

a room has three light bulbs and outside the room there are three switches. there is no way to tell the light is on when standing at the switches.
how can this amazing man figure out which switch belongs to which light bulb if he can only leave the room to switch switches once?

He turns one switch on and waits five minutes, then turns it off. Then he turns another on and enters the room. The switch that is on is connected to the lit bulb. The switch that was on for five minutes is dark, but warm. The untouched switch is dark and cool. ^^

I end wars more swiftly than armies. The laws of men are brought about through my work. My deeds are constantly praised and held in worshipful reverence by men of faith the world over. I'm the greatest poet there ever has been or ever will be. The grandest stories of any age have come through me. But no person has ever heard my voice. What am I?

a 400ft tall mute ogre who fights for peace - well just stands around and waves his club menacingly until peace is brokered - and really enjoys writing a good poem or two.

    or perhaps a pen.

I dont really have another riddle. so i leave it up to the next person to boggle my mind.

it works like this i think

    my father
    |
    | - - - - - - - - - -> ME
    V
    this mans father
    |
    |
    V
    This man

Therefore i am the other son of My Father, Brother of This Man's Father and uncle to This Man. so This Man is my nephew

although this means that the line "brothers and sisters i have none" is refering to This Man and not me

Nope. My father's son, because I have no brothers, is me. This man's father is me. Therefore, this man is my son.

Without the restriction that I have no brothers, this man could either be my son or my nephew. My having no sisters is a red herring, irrelevant to the logic, because the puzzle is limited by the wording to male parentage.

Not actually a riddle. It's a straightforward exercise in logic.

well, it could be my nephew if i dont have any brothers and sisters because they died. leaving me botherless, :D

but i submit to your logic.

    Riddle

Here on earth it is true.
that yesterday comes before today .
But there is a place known to me and you
where today will always be present before yesterday.

    where?

The Twilight Zone .. Or at least I think it might be, where day and night meet, so technically you can literally walk/drive into yesterday?
