Hi all New to this site and forums in general. Found this site while looking for some advice. Quite like to stay and chat about writing as I don't have many people to talk about this stuff with.
Hi I.A I have one longer peice that I am working on as a way to make sure I write every day. I also have some shorts on the go. How about you?
I'm always writing shorts that explore themes in other things I'm working on. My main effort is a historical fantasy that is in its first draft and is very messy.
I live by the line "the first draft is just th writer telling themselves the story" can't remember who said it but I think it's spot on. Also means they are meant to be messy. What era of history are you using?
The quote is Terry Pratchett's (one of my favourite authors). My time period is late Victorian and is set in Northern Wales. Its a kinda sorta remash of Authurian legend but mainly focuses on a young woman and young man who have to deal with the mental abuse of parents while the woman is supposed to be rescuing said parents.
That sounds interesting. Did you set it in Wales because of the Legends. I am Welsh and I remember a lot of talk about Arthur when i was in school
I set in Wales because partly of legends around there, partly because there's more places for magical things to hide and partly because I think it is a beautiful place. Sounds like good school, all we ever did was Robin Hood who I don't find too interesting.
