I have written several books, they are not published. To get them published I need information and I hope someone here on writing forums can help me. One of my non-fiction books is about the Navy and I would like to include a few pictures in the book. My problem is that I do not know where to get the pictures or how to include them in my book. The photos would be naval aircraft and an aircraft carrier and some photos of personnel, and at least two maps which may have to come form some other source. So should I contact the Navy for the photos? Would the Navy send them to me on the internet? I am thinking about using Amazon Kindle for publishing the book, so when I send the book over the internet to Amazon I suppose I include the photos as well? The "cover" for the book I will do as I am an artist, although it may simply be a photo of some Navy planes and the title. My other non-fiction book is about the Nazca Lines down in southern Peru, and I will need photos of those lines, where do I get them, form Peruvian Historical Society? Thanks everybody for your help.
Both being non-fiction, I'd contact the Navy & Peruvian Historical Society direct. If anything, they'll steer you in the right direction or give you other alternatives.
A web search for nazca lines, will give you plenty of images. For the rest, the same thing will work, you just need to know the model of the aircraft.
You may find photos on the stock websites, and they always have terms of use. Just make sure to copy-paste them somewhere just in case they change. Or you may ask AI to generate something for you. Or you may search Wikimedia Commons or other copyleft-like places. Plus, you may try to find some Navy forums and blogs and ask the people there for some pictures.
