I had my memoir "Past the End of the Road" published by Harbour Publishing, a major publisher here on Canada's West Coast in April. I had a book launch in Vancouver with over 60 people in attendance and the book dealer brought 50 books and sold 47. I have been yakking about the book on my Facebook page since before it was published. I also participate on a FB site called "Westcoast Fisherman" (I'm a retired fisherman) with 54,000 members in Canada, the U.S. and elsewhere around the world. I have posted ntoices of readings and reviews there too. In May I toured Vancouver Island, the setting of the book and visited book stores for signings and readings and spoke and read in libraries. I have had reviews in local newspapers (no majors) interviews on one Vancouver Island radio station and with two on-line literary reviewers too. The book has been placed in most book stores in coastal British Columbia and is available in Canada now on Amazon and as far as I can tell, in the U.S. in October. Now that the initial flurry is over, I don't know what to do next.
First off, congratulations on the publication of your memoirs! You seem to have covered a lot of bases already—in fact, more than most authors. Who is your target audience? Have you considered paid advertising?
Target audience is people interested in local history of Canada's West Coast, how people lived in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Second book would interest people who want to know how people involved inthe "back-to-the-land" movement in the 1970s did it and how they might duplicate it themselves if they wish. After reading my book they won't want to.
