My first thought was a Scallop Pattern. I don't know if that would be a formal biological term for plumage, but it might be recognizable to readers who aren't versed in terminology either.

Here's an AI answer being that I'm not a "birder" but a curious reader.

Bird plumage patterns can be broadly classified as mottled, scaled, barred, and spotted.
Here's a more detailed look at these patterns:
    • Mottled: Feathers have heterogeneous pigmentation, meaning the color is unevenly distributed, creating a speckled or blotchy appearance.
    • Scaled: Pigmentation follows the feather's edge, creating a scaled effect.
    • Barred: Alternating dark and light pigmentation appears across the feather, creating a banded or striped appearance.
    • Spotted: Distinct spots or markings are present on the feathers.
