    Out-of-Character Subforum

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Oasis Writer, Apr 29, 2008.

Okay, so as many Roleplayers know, communication is a vital thing to make any story work. It can also be the one thing that makes or breaks a game as well. When you start to rely on people to look at your Profile Messages, or Private Messages, sometimes people can misconstrue what really is needed to continue on the story, causing confusion, plot holes, and other things that can make people start to leave the game.

    So, I am suggesting an:

    Out-of-Character Sub-forum.

Now, since I noticed our Short Stories is moved into certain categories, as we're not suppose to post in the "Short Stories Forum," that may also mean making a second forum for "Actual Story Content," though it wouldn't be necessary.

This can be a very good location for people to discuss the story at hand with one another, as well as plan, plot out, and discuss other Roleplaying Games to start.

To organize Discussion Threads with Actual Content Games, you can merely have the post that is in the Roleplaying be called the game, and the Out-of-Character thread be called OOC: thread name.

For example. This would be the main thread for story content:
[IMG] Writing Forums > Community Interaction > RPG
    [IMG] Rhapsody (Fantasy)
And then, for the Out-of-Character Thread, have it be something like so:

[IMG] Writing Forums > Community Interaction > RPG > RPG: OOC
    [IMG] OCC: Rhapsody (Fantasy)

    Can you see the changes?

I think this could be a very good expansion to the site, and I would be more than happy to help organize it if there were issues with that.

    Thoughts?

Isn't it easier to keep the discussion thread for an RPG in the same forum as the game itself? Why make people go up a level and then down another branch to alternate between discussion and play?

It just strikes me as change for the sake of change, on a site where the RPGs are a peripheral component to begin with.

I'd saw more for organizational use than, if you had to find more of a reason.

To be honest I agree with Cogito. I haven't been able to play the RPGs for a while, but when I did I would flick back and forth between the game and the discussion thread. I think this would just complicate things unnecessarily, to be honest.

Banzai and Cogito have pretty much got it covered...I guess I'm just here to show support.
    I don't really think it's necessary.

I think this is food form thought actually.

However we have never needed a sub forum for the rpg until recently simply because the RPG was an added adidtion to the forum. But with recent events spiralling. I'll certainly speak with Daniel regarding the matter.

:) I think it would be beneficial and if it needed (I don't think it would, but if it did) I would help keep it organized.
