Does anyone else have those moments when you see or hear something that happens to remind you in some random or weird way of writing? I was talking with friends last night and somehow that one line from Silence of the Lambs came up in conversation: “It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.” In my head, I was just thinking “Huh, iambic tetrameter...” I might just be weird, idk...
I have funny realizations of my WIP every once in a while. The last one that has actually stuck in my head enough that I thought of it now is that the antagonist of my WIP would probably only get married for the tax break.
I was listening to a concert a couple of weeks ago and I got the weird idea into my head of writing a short story like a sonata, in movements. I don't know how to do it; I don't even know that much about the structure of musical compositions. But the notion won't go away.
Funny... I have one too. I was drinking white wine from a cup that said Mala- and i'm writing a story about a gypsy whore whose name is Malaminia.
My current story has a supporting character named Gordon, and one of his traits is that he's gay. Recently, I stumbled across this article on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_Gordons_(dance)
That’s an interesting concept. Movements in music can be in any type of classical music composition from what I can tell. I’ve had to sing both an old piece and a modern piece that were made up of movements: Vivaldi’s Gloria and a piece by Aaron Jay Kernis. Movements tend to be songs that can stand alone, but also fit with the other movements in a composition. They can have their own message or short story which adds to the greater story of the whole piece.
