My post heading sounds like a weirdly deep philosophical question but actually, I just want to introduce myself as a new member. I am also new to forums and discussion pages like this but very excited to meet like-minded people. I am an English teacher working in South Korea but my passion is writing, mostly short stories in the fantasy genre. I love reading but it's predominantly in fantasy. Just for reference, my favorite books are ASOIAF and the Broken Empire trilogy. I am excited to read other people's work and maybe get critiques on mine too. Looking forward to discussion and getting to know everyone here. Thanks for reading.
Welcome to the forum and group. My first thought after reading your intro is not your fantasy genre, but your real life experiences. Anyone can make up shit, you're living a life only a handful of people would ever experience, you are a stranger in a strange land. My best guess is that your observations and the things you have to do as an outsider, which are new to you would make for fascinating reading. I also write short stories 20 or more posted on the site that deal with everyday life and observations. I live in rural America and have been in numerous businesses over the years. I do the best I can, to take normal everyday life and make it interesting. You live in an exotic place where everyday life takes on a new meaning. I am just a tad jealous.
Hey RMBROWN, Cheers for the message, I never thought of it like that but I really like your perspective. I'm excited to check out some of that writing, everyday life and observations does sound interesting when you put it like that. It's funny too because Rural America seems exotic to me so reading about it would be fun.
