Android music player help: song order

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Iain Aschendale, Feb 26, 2019.

Okay, I've been googling this problem on and off for months and never found a solution, maybe somebody here knows how to fix things. My phone (currently a Galaxy S8, but I had the same problem with my Sony Xperia), insists on alphabetizing some but not all of my albums. The ones purchased in mp3 form are fine, but I've got quite a few that were loaded on from CD.

The problem seems to be completely random. For example, Disc 1 of Pink Floyd's The Wall, taken from the box set, is in proper order, but Disc 2 has been alphabetized. Every artist chooses their song order for a reason, but that's sure as hell no way to listen to a Pink Floyd album. I've found a partial solution in creating a playlist in which the songs are in proper order, but that's a manual process and time-intensive, it would take me more time than it's worth to do it for all my albums.

There has to be a fix out there somewhere, I can't be the only person who transferred a music collection into a modern format.

    Suggestions?

ETA: Doesn't matter if I use the Galaxy Music Player, Google Play, or whatever was installed on the Sony, same issue.
