I was wondering if these were the correct usages. 'My name Myc; I'm 33.' and 'I had seen that look before: It was the way I used to look at you.' Thanks in advance.
They are correct. I still confuse them myself; I often have to refresh the old brain online. I used grammar book.com to confirm your usages.
The first one is grammatically correct but stylistically I'm not sure a statement of age and statement of name are close enough to justify the semi-colon. I'd probably use a period. But again, it's not incorrect, just a judgement call. The second one seems fine.
Thanks all. It's just that you see so very few semi-colons and colons flying around in their proper usages anymore, always helps to get a refresher on where the buggers are supposed to go.
