As mentioned in @Avery Moore 's The NaNoWriMo Controversies thread, NaNo is a NoNo this year (possibly for the future). I've only done NaNoWriMo twice (the first time being like 10 years ago), but I liked the wordcount tracker feature. If you want to track/share your word count for the month of November and beyond, feel free to use this! format example: Project -- Day X -- 567 ^name of WIP ^Day tracker ^Wordcount for that day Have fun!
I know it's not November, but I figure I'm still writing, so why not track it: Cave Stars -- Day 1 (of rewrites)-- 1541 words
Cave Stars-- Day 3-- about 500 words (i dont know exactly how many words... there was just as much cutting as there was adding to that chapter and I didnt think to record the word count of the chapter BEFORE i started edits/rewrites)
(didnt plug it yesterday because I thought I'd write more.... but didnt) Cave Stars-- Day 4 (10/30/24) -- about 398 words
I don't generally nasno because i write nearly every day regardless, but i'll give it a spin this month just to see starting my latest project i wrote 3054 yesterday
Day 2: TLDW: Villains -- Day 2 -- 3149 words Feel free to mock me as I figure out why you cannot put a Do Not Disturb Sign on an inward opening door.
Total word count is now 6882 so that means i wrote 3828 tonight. My target is a minimum of 2k every day although i don't always meet it, other days i build up a surplus This is the second in a trilogy about a forensic psychologist (name's Jamie Bolt but everyone calls him Nuts) who's also an all round bad ass, kinda like Cracker meets Jack Reacher... there's no title as yet, generally they come organically. the first book which i finished a couple of days back Return to Zero wound up being circa 125k although i expect it to come down to more like 100k on edit, so thats the sort of ballpark i'm aiming for with book 2 also
That's well above your target! You should be really proud! ... Because he's... Extremely mentally sound?
Day 3: TLDW: Villains -- Day 2 -- 2299 words Been working on a really fun chapter today that introduces whats known as The Harvesters to the story. What are The Harvesters I presumptuously imagine you all asking. Well, my story is set in the midst of an industrial revolution. Massive breakthroughs in technology, science and medicine. One of these breakthroughs being the first successful organ transplants. And so, there are plenty of young, talented doctors who are learning as much as they possibly can about this incredible new surgery. And for that, you need lots and lots of dead folk with perfectly healthy organs to experiment on. Now, where are you going to find a fresh dead guy with perfectly healthy, perfectly preserved organs? ... Well, that's where The Harvesters come in.
14,302 total tonight, so that's 7420 today/tonight its not a lack of mental soundness so much as a lack of concern for his own welfare... as in 'are you nuts?' plus of course the play on his name with nuts and bolts, the fact that he's a psychologist who works with people who may not be entirely mentally sound, and the fact that he's something of a player with the ladies
"Hey ladies, they call me Nuts." "Nuts?" "Yeah... Deez Nuts!!!" And 7420 words in a day? You are a writing machine!!!
Day 5: TLDW: Villains -- Day 5 -- 1898 words Not completely obliterating my goals anymore, but still meeting them, so I'm happy with myself for that.
