    Yes, I Do Write Splatterpunk...

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Harrison Phillips, Aug 31, 2021.

    Hi there!

Thanks for having me! I write and self-publish extreme horror/splatterpunk novels, novellas and short stories.

Some of the stuff I write is pretty horrible, but I'm actually a pretty nice guy!

    Honest!

Heh, I've never read any splatter punk, but as a death metal fan, I can still appreciate the sentiment. Welcome to the board!

    Funny, I don't recall asking. :p

But welcome to our humble online abode anyway. We'll trust that you only write it, and don't actually perform it in real life. Well, I suppose it doesn't matter, because it would be impossible to murder or otherwise splatter any of us, considering this is an online forum and we don't actually meet in person.

I've read some splatterpunk. Woohoo!! I feel like splatterpunk authors are doing necessary work that not many can. Haha.

Extreme horror without limits. Very graphic and disturbing content.

Welcome to the forum. How do you suppress the gag reflex?

Clive Barker and Jack Ketchum are probably the most famous. Some people argue that James Herbert's early work (The Rats, for example) is some of the first splatterpunk, as his stuff is very violent for the time it was written.

Huh, I didn't know Barker was considered splatterpunk; apparently I have read some. "Books of Blood" was pretty cool, though I only read the first volume. I oughta pick up the others some day

I read Barker’s The Damnation Game a long time ago. I don’t remember many of the details, certainly a couple messed up parts. But nothing that strikes me as “Extreme horror without limits. Very graphic and disturbing content.”

Is it one of his tamer books?
