No More Stereotyped Politics

  1. Okay, so I really think this whole SJW thing needs to be addressed. Both in the sense of further discouraging them and blocking them, and in the sense of it being a problematic talking point. The problem with this talking point is that inevitablely becomes associated with the whole group, because people talk about it too much. For the same reason the stereotypes of flaming Christian homophobe or racist redneck Trump voter should be dealt with equally carefully to avoid that same problem. If there's one thing pissing me off recently it's people who seem unwilling to respectfully and rationally discuss a nuance view of politics. It's far too often like a war, and you just hate on whatever is other. And like a war you are taught to see the worst in the enemy. It's not about authoritarian SjWs or angry unyielding bigots, these are just versions of extremity. Have you ever noticed that the most authoritarian political situations ended up more comparable than their more fair counterparts? Because you start taking on qualities of extremity; drawing on over-tribalism and sheer irrationality. Let's try to avoid this more shall we? I think recent political ideas and events show that this kind of thinking is becoming invasive. We have to dismantle the character assassination and address specific points and people as their own and with respect for the complicated and ultimately somewhat subjective nature of the discussion. Because remember: there is no right answer in politics. Not entirely. Only in lucky examples.
Peace! Thank you for your time! Have a beautiful day!:blowkiss::blowkiss:

This reminds me of Johnathan Pie's video about Trump. He says: "We don't debate anymore because the left has won the cultural war." Well, I guess that he has a point... Rarely can I have a conversation with a person that has the capacity to speak about facts without getting emotionally overcome when it comes to politics. The conversations remain shallow and turn into irrelevant directions fast. They usually end up with pointing fingers and slogans. :p

I don't like that quote. The left is a pretty broad thing, and there's a good number of social right wingers. And there is plenty of debate to be had. I just think the thinking style is a little too influenced by these extremes; as you can see in the extremes. They tend to be the most concerned about the other extreme because they usually see the other this way. But most people aren't the extremes. Not in any way. They will merely have touches of the problems.

There is a hint of irony about this quote and I don't think it's meant to be taken with absolution. He was just trying to make a point, which he did in the continuation of the video as he explained in more depth what he meant by that, but I didn't mention that because that's not the point. I mean that I didn't wish to make a point about the left versus the right. I wanted to make a point about the left ideology and how its supporters started losing ground in correlation to what you said about insulting. It's not only what you say but how you say it and also how you support your opinion. Do you wish to chose a side and deplete the other side or convince it? I am always open to conversations and when I converse with someone I always give the benefit of the doubt. Am I going to convince you? I'm not sure. Maybe you will convince me instead. One thing is for sure. I won't stand to converse with a person that gets angry with me and starts insulting me idiotically just because he hates my "side" due to what he thinks this means for me. I won't get insulted since I can't take a person like that seriously but it's a waste of time and energy. It's like listening to a noisy parrot blah away. I'd rather play with my cat.

Another thing I hate is slogans. *Facepalm here* Why? -> Because many people tend to rely on them mindlessly. When you start asking a very basic question: "why?", these people start to lose their shit. Even when you agree with them they are unable to convince you, since they can't even articulate why they chose whatever it is that they chose to support or even WHAT IT STANDS FOR! They usually end up with irrelevant monologues. I mean... dude... I can understand this if you just entered the political part of your life as a teenager. You are still going through the phases, building character, trying to understand what's going on with the "world", but when you are a grown up person, way past this phase, what the fuck were you thinking entering the political arena without even knowing that there is a manifest that clearly indicates what it's all about? It's like going to the war bare. A sheep to get slaughtered by the opponent that is way more prepared for this. When I ask you "why" and your best answer is "because it's the right thing to do" with a stunt expression to this question because it is meant to be common knowledge for some reason... guess what. I love to play the devils advocate. Intuition and morals, ideology if you wish is not enough to support anything. You have to first search deep within you to understand why you are doing what you are doing and if it's such an important cause then also research a bit. Not only about your side but also upon other sides as well. Get to know what they really mean. Admit the positives and the negatives. Denial, insulting and being offended doesn't lead anywhere.

Btw, that's not directed upon you. I have a habit of speaking in second when I rant. :p

Anyhow, I focus upon the left because in most conversations I had so far with the "lefts" I was let down and yes, they were the extreme majority. Only some of them were leftists though. The more ridiculous conversations I had so far were with the anarchists and no, I don't mean young anarchists but old ones. Only one of them knew how to put me in my place since he was a 100% aware of what he supported and why. I learned from this conversations a lot. The most peaceful conversations, believe it or not were with the "rights". I am not one of the kind and although I was not convinced overly, I admitted that they had some points. At least they were "negotiable". Gave me the benefit of the doubt as well. I tried to have a conversation with an active extremist fascist only once. It didn't go too well... I won't be doing that in the near future. Isn't worth the risk. :p Just to make this clear, I do not wish to stereotype. It's just my experiences so far. The poll hasn't closed yet (it never will actually) and the statistics are incomplete.

As you said, there is no right answer in politics. Many parameters to keep in mind which are constantly moving.

Extremist aren't a majority. That's why they are extreme; comparative to the more moderate majority. Though the majority can still have strong and motivated opinions occasionally.

If politics is defined as "the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power," (from Google), then yes, there is a right answer in politics. It's called game theory. Whatever maximizes happiness and stability for the majority of the population is the right answer. Whatever protects the health of our planet and the continuation of our species is the right answer. Sorry, but this whole "no right answer thing" is really very unintelligent.

The difficulty is people value different things and there is lots of debate about the effectiveness of solutions.

"America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” ― Alexis de Tocqueville

I'd first like to point out, regardless of who it rubs the wrong way, the U.S. has no right, or left. Europeans of the more sophisticated type find our assertions of this to be quite amusing. Americans can't even tell you where that reference originated. For the most part they're repeating what they've heard said by others.

The divergence in the U.S. of two clear social views is one that's been with humanity for quite a long time, I daresay it was an issue in Rome vis-a-vis the Greeks, slavery and the rights of the "others" (those new citizens gained by occupation) compared to the rights of "actual" Romans. Religion plays a large part in this, and not because those who see it as significant are ignorant, and unsophisticated.

This conflict will get a lot worse before it gets better as both views as influences seek to achieve social dominance. Push will come to shove eventually, and like David Bowie said, we may see the goon squad coming to town. Of course, that is the great fear that things will escalate to might is right. The behavior of many during this past U.S. election should be ample evidence there is an element out there that's fine with that rather primitive approach to social order.

And, of course, there was a candidate to whom this was all okay as well, which was quite shocking to that same above mentioned element in Europe. Europe bears mentioning as Europe was burned to the ground three times over social ideology. They're a tad more sensitive to it than the U.S. which only burned half of itself down once (so far) and that was the rural half for the most part.

I wish I could offer assurances that things aren't going to go that way, but my better judgement insists that it's only a matter of time, and these two conflicting social views will come to blows, not only in the U.S. but in that vaunted European area as well. Neither side will allow its opponent to reason with them. Each is convinced the other is anathema.

The prophets of rock and roll, an art form that died in the seventies (much to the ignorance of those who sell records, and culture) raved about this, and were marginalized by the clearer thinking among us. Things have not changed since then. There's just more people than ever pushing against one another for limited resources with all sorts of reasons why "I" should get them, and not "you".

Many conservatives give me headaches. They talk about how every left-winger is irrational and stupid, while they can't have a single word in politics without screaming "faggot, pussy, SJW, socialist, communist." Not a single word can be said by anyone else before they start their crying.

@Kerilum this is precisely NOT the point. Both sides do stereotyped name-calling. Both should stop. The sensible respectful people should always be the front. Important statistic; 61% percent of Republicans according to a 2013 poll agree that sexual orientation should be included with race, sex, religion, disability etc in non-discrimination laws. The Republicans hold on to these stances because religious nuts and the old who just grew up with these values are motivated voters. The Libertarian Party got high votes for a reason. Remember than when talking about Repubicans. And remember hat some are just worried abou the consequences of social reforms and aren't really homophobic just taught traditionally. Not every left social policy is as obviously superior as "you shouldn't fire people just for being gay". There's more complication to social policy than that.
