    Brooklyn, NY in the 70s?

Discussion in 'Research' started by spklvr, Apr 14, 2011.

Parts of my WIP takes place in Brooklyn during the 70's (more accurately, Erasmus Street by Nostrand Avenue). There is a particular building there I have been inside and is using in the story. Is the area very different from now? Turns out that the people I knew in NY aren't from NY, so they know less about the city than me.
Are there any books or movies about Brooklyn during that time?

Wow, I hadn't thought of Son of Sam, and I love serial killers! The story takes place in 76, so that should be right in the middle of it... right? I haven't googled it yet :p

Goodfellas Academy Award winning 1990 American crime film directed by Martin Scorsese. It is based on the non-fiction book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scorsese. The film follows the rise and fall of three gangsters over the decades of the '50s, '60s, '70s, and 1980.
