Looks like we're in the same boat. I thought for a short while I was the only one. Yes, I've also heard about the advice of writing the ending first, but ... how on earth do you do that? Usually when I get ideas, I feel it's somewhere in the middle of the story. The ending never comes first to me. I get blocks all the time, and when I do it's so easy to just jump onto a new story, and then the (evil) circle of not finishing continues. Thanks, and good luck with your writing too.
The story can be as long or short as it likes as long as it gets finished. Anyhow, writing to me is just a hobby, I don't have any intention of publishing. Basically, I can do whatever I want, but I'm still making it difficult for myself.
Not necessarily, that was more about horror specifically. The basic idea is just to look at the Why at least as much as the What. Basically. Every story I've read/watched has had at least one thing or two that I wished they'd done differently. That's why it's my job as a writer to do it differently for them The best writers look at their own work in the same way. You're sure? It sounds like you've been doing it already
Oh, you've corrected me -those profound characters pop up from time to time. So you're right, I am able to write them, but I don't want them there. They make a short appearance before they vanish.
My writing is very character-based, and I'm not quite sure which genre it is. But, that's okay. I'm also mostly a 'pantser', and it usually goes well until ... the ending. Or, I think it goes well.
