I just learned that Maia passed two days ago, on 13 Sept, 2015. Rest in peace, my friend. You are missed.
Sorry to hear that. She dispensed a lot of advice while here, much of it helpful, some of it not, but I think all of it well-intentioned.
Bummer. Hopefully her family was with her and she went peacefully. Here's a link to her profile page for those that didn't know her: Mammamaia. It looks like her birthday was yesterday: Birthday: Sep 14, 1938 (Age: 77)
This is so upsetting. I hope she's in a better place. The world lost a generous writer, and a very small portion of this forum has died due to her tragic death.
I'm very sorry to hear about Maia. She was a respected institution around here for a long time, and I know she was somebody you considered a good friend. She had a widespread online presence and was always willing to share her knowledge and life experiences with people. She will be missed. Thanks for letting us know, @Cogito.
I like all the community, they are good people and know lots a stuff. And they put up with my shenanigans. Thanks you guys are the best.
I love @Cave Troll resurrecting great threads. I also love his avatar. I always enjoy @Link the Writer's posts and I think he's generally a wonderful human being. @jannert is like the caring but cool auntie who you can go to for just about anything and will leave feeling better about the world. I love @BayView's candidness about her experiences and publishing in general. @Sifunkle, @Viridian and @rainy_summerday were the best betas I could hope for. @Mckk has a very cute baby and I don't say that about many babies. @peachalulu - I don't think I need to explain this one. She's just peachy. I'm going to come back and do more later.
Matty-poo never ever misses the opportunity to actually write in his posts. It took me a bit to twig at first, but once I'd gotten my sea legs under me I was a fan, then and since.
I've been to a lot of forums in the past, but out of all the forums, this is the one I most frequent because you all are so wonderful.
... Y-y-you have nice e-eyes. (Runs away shyly) Nah, I'm not that kind of awkward. I'm more likely to think back and realize I accidentally made an innuendo about lemonade or something.
I agree with others this is generally good forum and there's a lot of good people who are both fun and helpful.
To @LinnyV — who took the time (a few months back) to give me a proper review when she clearly hated the text — a big friendly hug. Straight talkers are gold.
Came across this just today. I'd been wondering what had happened to Maia, and I was afraid something like that had happened. RIP
No, no, no, Mr. Link. You were supposed to say something nice about me. Did you think I was going to let you slide? Come on, man, can't be that hard.
I'm new here, so I'll just be lame and say: There are a lot of cool people here. I don't know anyone personally yet, but everyone seems nice and I would say this is a very welcoming place. Looking forward to more interactions here.
@Possum has a very cute avatar. @Oscar Leigh is a bit like a younger brother: he can be infuriating but I can't help be fond of him. That IS a compliment, Oscar.
