I'd love to show you... but I can't work out how to upload photos to the site. I've tried dropbox urls but can't make it work. You could take a look on Amazon for Brindy Wilcox. I've only got one book, so you should find it ok.
That sounds like such a cute story! This is the site I use for web uploads, if you ever need it: http://tinypic.com/
We don't. You need to use the 'direct link' code (the one that ends with .jpg) and then hit the little landscape logo at the top of the post editor, then paste in the code.
Got it, as in the link @Tenderiser gave me worked. I didn't leave the image on screen as I thought it would breach site rule on promoting my book. I want to check the rules before I do anything to get me banned
It's good to know that the printer for CreateSpace in the UK is comparable in quality to the US, since I'll be selling both of my books through Amazon, and my understanding is that if it's going to a UK or Continental European customer, it will be printed there rather than being shipped from overseas. (And I hope that the Brexit thing won't change that situation., or that Amazon can make other arrangements.)
Ah. I figured that out once I realized that there was another page to the thread. Must drink more coffee...
Concur. In CreateSpace, on initial setup, you have a choice of black and white vs. color: I chose black and white. Then you choose white or cream paper. I chose white for my short story. White is bright white, and is .00022 in thick. I chose cream for E&D, and that is .00025 in thick. I prefer the latter as it has much more of a book feel, and despite being thicker, feels lighter.
========== Part of it is how the book is made. Real printing presses in large volume have many paper types you can pick. But if you use a POD printer the choice is usually white because they are basically xeroxing your pages and binding it afterwards. The rest of it is cost. Self pubbers tend to keep costs down and plain white paper is cheaper than colors or other style papers. Traditional publishers can buy fancy paper in bulk to keep their costs low but are happy to spend more to give a higher quality image.
