Sleepless in the World

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by becca, Mar 4, 2009.

This thread is dedicated to all of you who go on very little sleep. So tell us how many hours you can go on little to no sleep, and let's see who doesn't sleep the most.

I personally have gone about 48 hours on like 3 hrs of sleep, before.

when I was young and foolish
I went about 3 days with no sleep.
working night shift at the nursing home
2 hour trip home to a sister who was upset
and wanted to talk. So we talked all day.
Went back to work night shift
2 hour trip home. Other sister upset and
father on the rampage all day.
Went back to work night shift
fell asleep on the bus ride home for 2 hours
walked to the house took my blankets to the
basement couch and passed out for 12 hours.
sure couldn't do that now.

I struggle for 2 daysers. Because i'm a night owl and sleep most at day , rather than during the night,i get crap sleep....so i wouldnt have the energy to stay up much longer then normal.

Mind you i went to a music festival which by the end i had been up for almost 60 hours. By the time i called for bed, it was a mental call because by then i was having a weird second wind.

I'm a chronic insomniac, so... my sleeping pattern is nonexistant. How much sleep I get depends on what I'm doing when my body feels like sleeping. If I'm at work or have other obligations, then it's not gonna happen. By the time I get home I have a second wind, so sleeping isn't an option. Sometimes I don't sleep for 3 days, though I usually get 2-5 hours. It can be at any time... If I sleep at 6 p.m one day I might sleep at 11 a.m the next.

It used to drive me nuts but I have learned to live with it.

I generally have more energy at night, and that's when I do my best writing. If I can't sleep, I write:)

And I do have the perfect excuse for stupid posts, which I use regularly!:p

Someone (a councillor) once told me that people who are usually more night people are generally more artistic, creative.

From a few people i know like that, are... then there was me.

Maybe it is because our brains feel freer when we aren't pressured by everything that goes on and HAS to be done suring the day.

Serotonin is released during the night, since it responds to darkness, and it eases the mind, thus allowing you to produce more ideas.

I prefer the morning though, because then my mind is clearer and takes a couple hours for the thought numbers to build up and clout my mind.

I love sleep. It takes me a long long time to fall asleep, but I am stubborn and wait it out. Eventually blissful nothing-ness called sleep comes, and Oh how I wish I could stay there many more hours than I actually get to.

Well that's just silly. We're clearly descended from vampires. Thousands of years ago there were vampires who mated with humans, and since then the blood has become so diluted that we no longer require blood to sustain us. Thus we are more powerful at night, but without the inherent weaknesses of our forefathers!

I've always had a lucifugous nature and if I could take just one thing with me to the afterlife, it would be a blood rare steak.

So here's the real question:

How many of you night people are vegetarians? Rather few, I think!;) (Diablo laugh)

I like my steak medium rare, but rare is still in there. I have really sharp pointy teeth in just the right place to back up my theory. :p

If we were vampires then good lord wouldn't the whole young girls suddenly be happy. They could step out of book shops after lookiing for Twislight replacements.

I'm way ahead of you, Speedy. I've already hooked a date by claiming vampire blood. I kid you not.:D I met her on one of my midnight walks. Twilight was God's gift to single men.

Least because of this we got to see Stephen Kings head turn into a hot-air balloon.

I really enjoyed Inrterview with the Vampire, and trhink it's held up greatly. (Unlike queen of the dammed).

I can't say i have liked any of recent.....30 days of nights had promise IMO (the way it was ****), but turned out very disappointing. I don't mind underworld. The prequel was done well..hh

They were alright. I'd like to see the new one when it comes out.

Van Helsing was a laugh.

To be honest, it's been a while since I've seen a vampire movie which is good when taken seriously.

I cried. Not that i ever expected anything good.

I had seen a few "80's' vampire movies that were pretty good. But like today there must have been a hundred of theem and the names of the movies don't stand out in my head.
