So, @Alesia, you're in the book trade! Congratulations! Now, if someone asks you if you're a successful writer, you can say, "Well, I sell 20,000 books per day..." without ever mentioning that they're not your books. Wait - that might not be such a good idea. It doesn't pass the honesty test.
Of course not. Heck, you barely have time to look at them. We put out 35 skids of "material" every two hours.
I need a new job....Sigh, I make a good morning cuppa, and defy anyone who tries to stop me any takers?
If what Manchester United really needs is a good morning cuppa, then @Augen Blick should definitely apply!
I got a free book today for being a good student. I'm taking a class called 19th Century British Poetry with a professor who is well researched in Victorian Literature. I am on good terms with my professor having taken a class with him before. Yesterday I was talking with a friend about different universities because I'm transferring after this school year, and I brought up the possibility of finding research internships. Then I asked myself, "what is research in the literary field? What do literary scholars actually do as research? It's not like history or sociology or chemistry or business. What is it?" So I emailed him about it and he says "I'll bring the results of my research to class tomorrow." Today he comes in and hands me a copy of The Moonstone that he edited and republished and says, "read the introduction, the footnotes and some of the appendices and you'll this edition has a particular reading based on the editor's research." After class I asked him a few questions, he answered and said I could keep the book for future reference and "reading pleasure." Works for me.
No you are probably too busy making Darth Vader voices into the fan and not paying enough attention to what else is going on.
I just realized my biggest motivation to do stuff (work, writing, sports) is knowing how shit I am at those things. Why is this in the Happiness Thread? Well, I think revelations are usually a good thing.
Well that's always a chance to get better. Once I realized how not good I was at discus, I began working harder to improve (and hey, my team and I made great strides in my last few weeks. ) In other news, I was struck with a moment of inspiration and have started production of another poem, which I think looks pretty decent for an unfinished first draft. Of course, it could be total crap lol
I just found a pj harvey song i like at the end of an old album i hate!!! and i wrote 1000 words yesterday
Break over. Starting the review and editing process. I have everything I need - a freshly printed ms (split between two accordion files), a supply of red pencils and sticky-notes, a note pad, a list of issues to look for and plenty of hot coffee.
