    Four

"Why is there a bag on your forehead..."
"Bag, sir? What-" Four reached up and touched his forehead. As his fingers contacted the papery surface, he frowned, shrugged. "Oh. There's a bag on my head."
    "Watch your flanks newbie!"
Four passed a sideways glance at the Arcadian who the commander had shot. Shrugging again, he spun towards the opposite direction, shoved the bag into the eyes of another Arcadian rounding his ship and delivered a rapid series of fatal blows to the blinded soldier's neck and chest. By the time his lifeless body hit the floor, Four was already diving forwards, dispatching all resistance in a similar fashion.

Danny groaned as he sat up. He had been enjoying a great nap but now tons of noises were waking him up. Can a man sleep on the job anymore? Were his thoughts. He hated getting woken up it was a pain. He dragged himself down the hall and went to the next room rubbing his head. He was still to tired to realize were he was. He had fallen asleep on the drop ship while making his cleaning rounds. He stopped stunned once he saw the others and a rather large intesne battle going on. "Uh oh..........." He stated as his voice trailed off

"Bet you a week's pay newbie gets shot first."

"You're on." James slapped the old Doc on the back.

The boarding party entered the corridor leading to the upper decks, and were greeted by a hail of gunfire. The Arcadians had set up shop at the top of the stairs.

A few of the boarders tossed grenades, and James got a few shots off before a bullet grazed his arm. His combat suit took most of it though.

"Looks like they're not giving up without a fight!"

Doc sent an energy blast towards the Archadians at the top of the stairs, before dropping back into cover. His experienced eyes scanned the group for injuries. James had gotten a paper cut in the arm, another boarder took one in the head and dropped dead immediatly, but other than that no one was seriously injured. So far so good. He watched the Newbie closely certain the guy was going to take one in the shoulder any second.
And there we go. Doc thought, as a bullet slammed into Four's armor. The strange thing was, Four didn't even flinch, he just kept fighting. What the...what type of drugs is that guy on?

"Looks like they're not giving up without a fight!"
What kind of soldier would do such a thing? Four acknowledged the comment with a small portion of his attention, but soon rededicated it to the task at hand. The man which he currently held in a rear naked choke was suffering not only from wounds caused by several bullets purposed for Four, but also from a broken neck. At first he walked slowly towards the sources of the bullets, then he discarded the mutilated shield and slid towards the nearest gunman, sweeping his legs from beneath him and crushing his windpipe with a swift strike. Then, dragging the gunman's rifle with him, Four ducked behind cover and checked his new-found weapon. 23 rounds. Fully automatic. 3 targets in immediate vicinity. He cleared and loaded the chamber. 20 rounds to spare.

Fours bullets hit their mark, dropping three Arcadians cleanly, at the same time Doc Payne's energy blast knocked another three into the wall behind them. The boarders finished them off. There were just two more, and James dropped another with his pistol. The last was taken down by a rookie boarder. He looked shocked that he'd hit his mark.

The corridor was cleared now, and before they moved out, James shouted to a few of the boarding party, "Stay with the ship!" As he did so he turned around and noticed something out of place.

"Is that... a Janitor!" He exclaimed as he saw the dazed looking man walking out of the drop ship, bumping into a crate.

    Four

The cackling of guns fell silent as the last Arcadian fell dead. Area clear. Casualties? Four scanned the area. Unfortunate, but acceptable. Damage report? Four scanned his body, at which point his eyes found the warm liquid soaking his clothes and running down his arm. Treatment advisable. Four was about to attempt tearing off a bit of his undershirt when he spotted the doctor. He made his way over to the medical professional and, save a brief faltering of his left leg, arrived uneventfully at the doctor's location. Four saluted the doctor, drawing a distinctly crimson line along the path of his hand. "Ensign Four reporting in sir. I understand you are the doctor?" Four dropped the salute, causing another streak of blood to appear on the doctor's face. "I...appear to be bleeding."

"Yeah, no kidding kid." Doc replied wiping the blood off his face. He immediatly went to work removing Four's shoulder armor and applied a smelly white paste to stem the bleeding. As he began taping on bandages he said, "I saw you get hit, you didn't even flinch. What type of drugs are you on any way?"

"What type of drugs are you on any way?"
"The permanent damage caused by drugs would have to be justified by a high value target," Four responded. "No such target is known to be present in this situation." Four craned his neck slightly, but only briefly. "No drugs, sir. As for the flinching, it's ah–" Civilian. You were a civilian. "–uhm I'm not sure. Heat of the moment, perhaps?"

"Ha!" Doc laughed harshly as he finished bandaging the young soldier and replaced his shoulder armor. "You still feel bullets, even in the heat of battle. But we have bigger things to worry about right now."

Doc washed Four's blood off his hands quickly and readied his gun. "Alright, James. We're ready to move out. Oh, and by the way, you owe me a weeks pay." He winked and laughed.

    Four

Four bowed his head and then saluted again as the doctor finished bandaging him. "Appreciated, sir."
"You still feel bullets, even in the heat of battle."
Four furrowed his brows. Note to self: Typical soldiers feel pain. Must show reaction. "Of course, sir. Uhm-" Four paused, trying to come up with words to fill the unspoken question, yet instead simply turned abruptly away, towards James. "Commander, what are your orders, sir?"

He decided that the others could deal with the janitor.

"Commander, what are your orders, sir?"

"We need to push forward." The party moved ahead through the corridors. The Arcadians were no where to be seen.

"They've probably retreated to the bridge." As they drew closer, James got a transmission from the Ecthelion.

"We're detecting life signs clustered around the bridge. Exercise extreme caution."

    "Roger that Ecthelion." He replied.

"Breach the doors, then toss grenades." He ordered and four of the boarding party moved to obey. They positioned themselves on either side of the heavy bridge doors and placed a charge on it. Everyone else waited around the corner of the hall. A few moments later, there was a bang as the explosive went off and the doors flew open. A few grenades were tossed in, but bullets came flying out as a response. The grenades detonated, silencing the fire for a moment, and the breach team, followed by the rest of the party pressed through laying down suppression fire.

Doc wisely kept himself in the hallway out of harms way. When a soldier or one of the boarding party went down with a bullet, someone would get them in the hallway where he was. Needless to say Doc was kept busy, though the sound of the gunfire being exchanged made him think that the Archadians were getting the worst of it. Doc hummed a little ditty as he removed a bullet from a soldiers thigh and stitched it up right there on the spot. The soldier had only the mildest antisthetic in him, and made sure Doc Payne knew it by frequent groans of pain.

"Be glad you got shot in the fleashy part and not in a tendon or bone." Doc said as he moved on to another patient. "You know the best place you can get shot?
    "What?" The soldier grunted.
"The buttocks. That's right. All fat there. Sure, it might sting like hell but no damage done, you know." Doc smiled. Soldiers often commented that his bedside manner could use some work.

    Four

Four was among the first through the doors. As he ran in, he lit two Arcadians up before diving behind cover. As more of the boarding team poured into the room, he rose up and reopened fire, gunning down two more. He centered his sights on a third, but found his right shoulder jerking slightly back. Four glanced briefly at his bandaged arm to see it bleeding again. Did I- oh. New bullet. He lined his sights up on the third man again when he remembered: Pain. "Ah. I'm hit. Ahhh." Four clutched his arm several centimeters below the convenient wound where both the old and new injuries bled as one. "Ahhh. I'm incapacitated due to my pain." Four finally squeezed the trigger and watched as the third Arcadian crumpled before the merciless pellets which assailed him. Four advanced, switching from cover to cover. Pushing far ahead of his allies, he found himself isolated. Yet the Arcadian youth who Four found himself face to face with seemed to have been incapacitated by some greater injury, for he trembled and raised his empty hands above his head. Four glanced briefly at the quivering youngling before calming his tremors with a single round to the head. Four then glanced back at his allies and hollered, "Oh the pain. It is unbearable. I feel like I've been shot or something of the sorts." Four glanced once more at the sleeping boy before he tore his eyes away and checked his rifle.

“Oh the pain. It is unbearable.”

“Give me a break.” Shield stood over the wise mouth with machine gun in hand, a giant towering over the ensign. He surveyed the bridge, spotting numerous Arcadians cowering behind cover. This can’t be right. Arcadians don’t cower, they fight tooth and nail until they die - or we die.

Burns raised his gun and pulled the trigger. Bullets tore through the air, smashing into chairs, computer screens, desks and all their path. Dust and debris hung thick in the air and the Arcadians tucked their toes in even tighter. Lights burst from the ceiling like dying stars, with a bright flash before sudden darkness. The emergency lights soon arrived, bringing a stain of blinking crimson over the bridge.

    “Time to go hunting.”

As the lights went out, and the emergency lights came on, James scanned the room. An elevator on the opposite side of the bridge opened up suddenly. As the doors opened, a hail of gunfire poured out. Inside were two heavy shock troopers. They each carried an energy shield, a handheld panel that lit up with a blue energy field, and high power rail pistols. They started opening up on the boarders. James knocked off a few shots, but they were deflected by the energy shields.

"Captain!" He shouted to the giant with the heavy machine gun. "We need suppressing fire!" Then turning to Four, "Go for the flank, and watch out for stragglers. Take a few of the boarding party with you!"

    Four

"Go for the flank, and watch out fo-"
Four was already vaulting over his cover towards the shock troopers. He rolled to the side as he landed and bounded back up, gliding over a console and ran directly for a wall. Bouncing off of the ground, Four ran along the wall for several meters before falling back to the ground, where he rolled over a dead Arcadian's body, seizing his gun in the process. He emptied the rifle at the shock troopers while sliding diagonally towards the elevator. Once the rifle's slide clicked fruitlessly, Four tossed it aside and collided neatly with the wall just next to the elevator doors as he pulled out a his combat knife.

Doc and the other's in the hallway instinctivly ducked as a hail of bullets pounded the other side of the wall. Those who were strong enough grabbed their gear and jumped back into the fight.
That sounds like a rail...no make that two rail pistols.
Doc grabbed his own rifle peeking around the edge of the doorway to see if he was right. He mentally patted himself on the back as he saw two energy troopers with rail pistols shooting up the place.
He sent an energy wave at them before hiding back behind the wall. He estimated that they would come out with little less than half the people they had boarded with. A sad statistic but not unusual. Pulling himself out of his thoughts, Doc Payne began tearing open bandages preparing for the next wave of injured.

The shock troopers were blasting away with their rail pistols. Suddenly though the one on the right was pelted with gunfire as Four came diving in. His barrage overloaded the troopers shield and wounded him lightly. Shock trooper armor was designed to take a lot of punishment. He grabbed his rifle and leveled it on Four, cracking off a few shots before Doc's energy pulse hit the troopers, knocking the wounded one to the ground and staggering the other.

James activated his skeletal mod and put his body into overdrive, lunging out of cover and firing away at the standing trooper. He moved so fast that the trooper couldn't get a clear line on him.

The rest of the Arcadians on the bridge were trying to support the Shock Troopers, but were being mowed down by the better prepared Boarding Party.

    Four | HP: 85%

Four's body jolted back as the bullets struck him, but he simply gripped his knife, seemingly unaware. Eliminate. Four rushed into the elevator and, positioning himself between the two shock troopers, began attacking both ferociously, subjecting them to an Onslaught of slashes and stabs.

Doc heard the cries of boarding party members and soldiers who were gunned down by the rail pistols. But no one was dragged out. Likely because they were pinned down. Doc Payne took a deep breath and sprinted around the corner of the wall. He sent an energy pulse towards the shock troopers then ducked behind cover before the they had a chance to target him.

He kneeled next to one of the soldiers who had been shot in the chest. His dog tags said "Terrance." The rail guns had ripped right through his bullet proof vest. Doc tore the vest and shirt open revealing the gaping hole. Terrance gasped for air, his eyes shut tight in pain. Doc pulled out a hand held scanner and ran it the length of the soldier's chest. He shook his head sadly at the readings. The bullet had scraped Terrance's heart. The soldier only had a few minutes. If that.

"Doc?" Terrance gasped opening his eyes for a moment. "How...bad?"
"You're gonna be fine." Doc lied. "I'm going to give you a anthistectic. Just relax, and go to sleep."
Doc injected a pain killer into the soldier's arm. Terrance smiled breifly before his eyes closed for the last time. Doc unclasped his dog tags and slipped them into a special pouch on his belt. One more soldier down because of this awful war. Unable to do more he moved on to the next injured person.

Four's attack caught the shock troopers unaware, they weren't prepared for an attack so ferocious. Four slammed the wounded trooper into the back of the elevator. Then Doc's energy burst hit and pushed the otehr trooper off balace, giving Four an opening to get past his shield.

James sent a few shots at the wounded trooper, aiming for the head. They connected and the trooper fell prone on the deck. The other was still up though, wounded, but alive.

Across the room, the boarding party was sweeping away the last of the Arcadians, and some began to level fire on the remaining Shock Trooper, weakening his shield.

Susanna's finger tapped rapidly on the fighter's controls. It was eerily silent outside the ship and she wanted nothing more than to be in the middle of the action with James and the rest of the boarding members. "This sucks." She muttered to herself. I should be in there blasting Archy a** with my grenade launcher.
"All's quiet out here, James. How's things looking inside?"

He heard his radio click and Susanna's voice crack into his ear. "We could use a little help in here, if you don't mind!" He ducked behind a crate to avoid an incoming shot.

"On my way." Susanna said guiding her fighter into the base. "Jacob, you've got point out here."
    "Roger that." He replied.

    ------------------------------------------------------

A few minutes later Susanna was ducking into cover beside James. "Miss me?" She asked teasingly as she pulled the grenade launcher off her back. She cocked it and peered around the corner to aim. Six seconds later a loud pop sounded as a grenade launched itself at the shock trooper.

"Sup Suzy! How's it goin!" He asked far to casually, the popped up and cracked a few shots off at the staggered Shock Trooper, then offed an Arcadian who was preparing to fire at Four. "Lively crowd tonight!"

    Four

Stagger. Four sent a powerful kick directly at the shock trooper.
Distract. Four twirled the glinting blade and threw it to the left of the shock trooper, where it thudded into the wall.
Eliminate. Four jumped onto the wall opposite his knife and flipped over the trooper. He landed gracefully on his feet and, pulling the knife out of the wall, sent the deadly dagger at the trooper neck.
