    Weird Story Idea game.

    Discussion in 'Writing Prompts' started by Link the Writer, Jun 29, 2011.

    Hey everyone. Let's play a game that stirs up the imagination!

    The object is to come up with the weirdest, zaniest story idea and you can do it more than once. =D

    It can be for a book, movie, videogame, comic, whatever.

    Make it at least a few paragraphs and show us the insanity!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The weirdest idea I had was just now: Basically, it's a rip-off of Disney's Happy Feet, except it's CGI/Live-Action film set in Vancouver, Canada circa 1949. A young starlett named Lydia Smith meets a dancing, singing penguin named Martin wandering the streets. She learns he had just ran away from the town zoo to show off his gift for the humans.
    Long story short, the penguin joins her show and becomes a wonder! People from all over the world travel to witness this penguin and Lydia sing their hearts out onstage.
    Of course, there are sub-plots like love tension between Lydia and her boyfriend Harry and ex-boyfriend Dave, and Martin...well...he misses the Artic. XD
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Well, that was my weird story idea. Your turn! :D

    My weird story idea is about a duck that escapes from a Chinese restaurant after seeing his whole flock flattened and hanging in the shop window. He then wanders the earth righting wrongs and having adventures. He meets an old master that helps him perfect his style of Kung Fu called “Peking Duck Fist.”
    The duck returns to Hong Kong for the final confrontation with the Triad chief and Chinese butcher who cooked his family

    He wins in the end but is squashed by a rickshaw as he walks into the sunset. His flat body is found by an old Chinese woman who takes him home and cooks him, feeding the delicious Beijing Duck (Peking duck) to her grandson.
    That boys name is Bruce Lee and he grows up to become a Kung Fu Movie legend.

    Far in the post-apocolyptic future, the remaining tribes of humans select their fittest through competition on a ninja-warrior type obstacle course. But instead of being over water, the competitors fall into a deadly abyss or a pit of hungry pirahna things.
    The winner gets to lead the tribe in a ritual dance summoning the spirit of Kim Kardashian before being sacrificed (death by snoo-snoo) in order to ensure a good harvest of pickles - the staple crop of the future.

    Yep.

    Interesting story ideas so far. Here's another one of mine:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Basically, it's a story about a llama in a llama kingdom that is vaguely similar to Great Britain. Anyway, the protagonist is a llama named Mishu who notices that the Great Orb of the Llamas is loosing energy, and thus is causing the llama kingdom to slowly die. She journeys with a childhood friend named Kotu to investigate the cause and put a stop to it.
    80,000 years ago, the eldest member (28) of a hunter-gatherer band is suffering from a lifetime of broken toes, teeth problems and other poorly mended injuries common to prehistoric life, and is ultimately un-able to keep up with the tribe. As is customary, he solemnly resolves to be left behind and starve to death in the wilds.
    As he's wasting away, he is suddenly abducted by aliens, who telepathically tell him that he is being collected for an exhibit on their home world demonstrating the progression of life on earth since they planted it on our nascent planet so long ago, before they put him in cryogenic stasis.
    However, he is woken 90,000 years later in the midst of the human christian-fundamentalist conquest of the peaceful alien confederation. Upon examining the caveman, the commanding officer realizes that the man's very existence contradicts the biblical age of the earth and humanity - anathema!
    So they vaporize him.
    The end.
    -----------------------------
    Hmmm, I might actually do something with this.... lol.
    The planet is being overrun by dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are completely wiping out the humans. So the government builds an enormous space ship and sends the dinosaurs into space. Then a war breaks out between the dinosaurs and the aliens. The aliens eventually defeat the dinosaurs. Then the aliens take over earth as payback for the humans sending the dinosaurs to them.
    I was watching Jurassic Park: The Lost World yesterday so that's where this came from. Lol
    A tender young girl of seventy-one is the victim of love, and as such, must escape her walled-city to plague the desert outside with her incestuous spawn, each of whom loves her more than the last. She is eventually driven insane, and cuts her own head off. Unfortunately, being asexual, she just grows a new body, and the two bodies fall in love with each other while hating themselves forever more.
    Those all sound awesome.
    I've always wanted to write a murder mystery where the protag is a cat who travels with his owner, an incompetent detective who is nowhere near as smart as his cat counterpart. Kind of a satirical comedy (not against detectives in general or anything, they're great, but against bureaucracy of a specific nature).
    Lol! That kind of reminds me of a story I wanted to write back in year 8 about a dog who spends an entire day searching for the perfect blueberry pie to eat! Along the way he meets a number of obstacles including a dysfunctional cat, a toddler and a fence...
    This atheist, evolutionist, scientist builds a time machine in his basement and, to his horror and utter dismay, manages to wind up in the Garden of Eden witnessing the diirect creation of mankind firsthand.
    Approximately 5 billion years in the future, the Sun of humanity's native planet, Earth, is finally dying. It's transformation into a supernova is imminent, and a team of engineers, who are billions of years old due to spending their lives as brains floating inside a tube of liquid that replenishes brain cells that is hooked into some sort of nearly indestructible suit (which is how everyone in the year 5 billion lives) must find a way to save the planet. Save the planet itself, that is, seeing as Earth is now inhospitable and unpopulated. But Earth is where the now nearly perfect civilization of humanity came from, and many older people have fond memories of living there. So the engineers must move Earth to a new, more stable, solar system, where it can be observed and appreciated for the rest of eternity. That is, until THAT solar system destabilizes, at which point, they'll just move Earth again, using the same method as last time. They'll do this for all eternity, since the universe remakes itself eventually. As bleak as it may sound, it's five billion years in the future. Technology is perfect, to the point that it's nearly indestructible, self replenishing, and able to keep people happy. I'd imagine nobody breeds anymore, due to a lack of death and a lack of natural, short lived humans (sample could be kept on ice, of course). People probably switch spouses every once and a while, to the point that your average 4 billion year old has spent a few centuries married to everyone they've ever met.
    I thought of this concept when I thought "What would happen if humanity managed to survive longer than the sun? How good can technology get in five BILLION years? How depressing would it be to watch the sun, Earth's sun, a source of great happiness to myself and countless others (through its warmth, beauty, and serotonin), die?" I guess this idea can be partially attributed to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, seeing as it takes place in 40,000, which I thought was an absurdly long time in the future.
    A man builds a time machine, travels twenty years into the past, winds up meeting himself at a social gathering, falls in love with the same woman, gets into an altercation with himself, and the younger version kills the older.
    This is something I'm actually in the earliest stages of planning, though the exact form it will take isn't certain yet.
    On first glance it's a normal game made on an old RPG maker program so that it resembles an SNES era Final Fantasy game. In the early going it plays exactly the way you'd expect that game to play.
    Sometime after the first quest is completed, a weird series of 'instrusions' begin. An entire town is empty, for example, and the player cannot access any of the buildings- they must leave and re-enter the city in order for it to work properly. In other instances, dialogue is wrong, as though copied over from a different game. Other times the screen flashes, freezes for a moment, and then restarts. In a completely different area, one the player has never seen before. When they leave that screen, they return to their original location.
    Slowly, the plot of the game takes an unusual turn- the king of generic kingdom that the hero must save gives increasingly indefensible commands, which the main character takes to with undue excitement. The 'instrusions' become more frequent, becoming increasingly clear that another game is trying to impose itself on the original. The player can then choose to interact with the 'instrusions,' or ignore them.
    In the end, the two games are, of course, two paths of a single whole. One, the main game, the meta-developer celebrating their string of mass murders. The other, his subconsious trying to out him and reveal his crimes to the world. The last boss of the 'instrusions' path is the avatar of the serial killer meta-developer, the main character of the original game.
    An alien invasion movie with a plot completely opposite to the generic hordes of aliens attack and try to wipe out humanity.
    Instead of being more advanced than us, these aliens are much stupider and landed on Earth by accident. They all rely on humanity so much that it drives everyone insane. We try to come up with ideas on how to kill them off "accidently". It turns into a "silent war" against a very unintelligent alien race.
    Here's another weird idea from your's truely:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A complete rip-off of Dragon Ball Z, it's a story about an elven teenager (who looks suspicously like Teen Gohan from the Cell saga) who's a blind ninja with the ability of flight and other magical powers (all ninjas are gifted with these powers). His name is Mishao Kunni.

    Mishao doesn't use his powers for anything other than to have fun with his companion, Ishim. This frustrates their master and the Elder Ninjas who reside in the Ninja Temple.

    Well, one day, Mishao finds a young girl named Lika fighting off a band of sinister looking agents. After he dispatches those agents, he learns that Lika is in possession of a scroll. This scroll, Mishao learns, is a message that fortells horrible doom for the land.

    The exiled princess has returned with an army of demons and other monsters to destroy her mother, the reigning queen in an effort to seize power for herself. This scroll was one of the many scrolls that could summon demons, and this is the last thing the princess needs in order to prepare for her invasion.

    Ishim, Lika, and Mishao must now ready themselves and the land for a horrible, bloody invasion, the likes of which the land had never seen in over two thousand years...

    Hmmm. Well, there was this one story idea back in primary school I had.

    There's like a dog. His name is Kat. Anyway Kat must travel to the highest mountain in the world in order to deliver pizza. His after school job. He gets to the top of the mountain and manages to deliver the pizza to Shinju. Who happens to be a ninja master. As he thanks Kat, he has a heart attack and dies, making Kat promise to look after his school.
    The other students accept Kat as their master, due to their respect for Shinju. When in fact Shinju only meant to keep the place operational until the council of ninjas send his replacement.
    Now Kat must not only ready the students for the war which they must fight in order to save their world, he must also save his best friend Dog, who is a cat, from her abusive father.

    Inspired by the show "CatDog" that I used to watch when I was little.
