I still haven't "begun"...

  1. To be honest I haven't even been working on my story. I'm mostly in what I would call "gathering the supplies" phase. Concept phase. I'm still trying to understand what am I writing.

    Also...how.

I'm going to be a little coy, but this is mostly me taking notes of my progress so...

I do have a concept, but it's...complicated. I already know it will require a lot of work. It requires the kind of blueprint a story about a person who can keep going back in time to change the future would... It's complicated and requires a lot of forethought.

I think it is important I think of the end...first. And stick with it. The temptation to keep changing things is strong.

I think my most important project is the worldbuilding. I do like doing this, but I also find that while the story is important, so is the world. The setting. The world always shapes the characters. The characters shape the world. Each thing effects the other and when that conceptualization is tight...you're world really feels like a 9 dimensional world.

I will say this... My goal is...realism. I know people crap on that, especially after so many "realist" fictions have run their coarse. But...I think I have something people will like.

Also...what might tip me into insanity is that I want to try...absolute innovation. Yes, I know, nihil nove sub sole. There's nothing new under the sun. What about above it?

I think this will be the most worthy challenge of a fiction writer. To create something totally new...but also something great. Something people will like...or understand. I get the feeling even if I'm successful, it will be years after I'm dead and some greedy company will not only pimp it dry but twist and distort it to their own purposes like so much other content these days.

But...in the end...I really would like to try this as a personal project. I suppose I'll be using this blog as a progress report. Kind of like GRRM.

God made the world in seven days. But no one ever said how long those days were...

I've always fancied myself a seeker of wisdom and then gained the wisdom to recognize myself not as a seeker but a fan.

However...I still try here and there.
