Writing powerful and compelling emotion

I just rediscovered this old post. I was looking at the list of entries in my General Writing Related series and saw Emotion, way up near the top (from 2021). What the hell—? Now I realize this video is what made me decide to get the book on writing emotion that I found in the back of my Kindle recently—she mentions it and reads from it several times. I watched the video last night. Some good stuff. It makes me realize I've never based a story on anything that evokes real emotion in me. No wait, that's not right. I guess I just never opened up and dumped those emotions out in any of the stories. Maybe I was afraid to. Or maybe I just don't concentrate on emotions in my stories, I keep them subdued. Cause you know—I'm a dude.

This is so old, I wasn't yet using the comments section under a blog post for my own exploration and development of the ideas. Feels like a different lifetime.
