Indoor Soccer

When I'm out on the pitch my inner white stallion takes over, untamed without reigns and saddle, free to gallop the wild great plains.

First game of the rec league was last night. Playing keeper; I'd be omitting the fact that I'm incredibly out of shape if I only said I was playing the position because it's fun. I do enjoy it though, and I'm good enough at it. And I get to play the whole game which is nice. Means I'm getting the most out of my money. I also still had the gear and gloves, and they needed a keeper. It all worked out.

I'm sitting there stretching on the sidelines with my teammates, watching the men's league that's wrapping up, when a pretty girl (our league is co-ed) comes up behind us.

"Are you guys playing next?"

"Yeah," I say. "Team Smash Bros?"

She looks at me for several seconds.

"No. Team Sharpshooters."

"Oh. Well, I'm Scott Sterling, it's nice to meet you."

All the other players on the bleachers laugh because they recognize the meme.

"Why's that funny?" she snaps.

Everybody gets dead silent all of a sudden and I hear some mocking "OOOoooos" from my teammates as if I'm in trouble with a teacher.

"Jerks," she mutters under her breath, and storms off.

And I just turn around and look at everyone like this:

Except my smile is accompanied by pained confusion. She's definitely a tsundere, I think.

"She totally wants me," I joke.

And we're all laughing again.
