Micro-managing your characters

  1. In writing, I sometimes go out of the way describing how a character breathes, how their eyes move, etc.

    That's micromanagement. A good impressionist painting has a few key strokes of a brush. The viewer's brain fills in the details.

    Let your characters do their own acting in each reader's mind. They'll do a better job.
