My nephew was using it last year for school. He liked it, but I found it a little underwhelming. I guess it depends on your needs, though.
It's not a cure-all, but it can be helpful. I wouldn't recommend it as a sole grammar program or a way around using a professional editor. But it is helpful.
I object to this service purely on the basis of the name. Turning nouns and verbs into adverbs by adding -ly is insufferably smug and twee, and in the case of Grammarly is ironically poor grammar. There are apps like this on the App Store. "Yummly" comes to mind.
I agree, the name is horrible, but easy to remember due to its nature. Which was probably the point. I've seen work where users tried other free grammar services, and the service provided was much worse than this program. That's why I decided to post it as a resource.
I've got a one-year subscription to this because they gave me a special offer but I'm wondering if there is a better option out there? My English skills are not too bad, but tools like Grammarly help me with a few common mistakes I make.
I just started using White Smoke online editor and it works better than Ginger or Grammerly It was $9+ for a year on line.
As I am not native I run most of my stories through grammarly. It usually finds something. I also use Scribens
