Even though I’m not entirely sure what sauerkraut is, I’ve always wanted to try it. We can get the Bratwurst sausages over here, in places like Lidl/Aldi, but I’ve never seen sauerkraut.
I am going to make a Romanian cabbage stew today which is a kind of cooked sauerkraut - basically white cabbage cooked long and slow with a little bit of fatty pork, a couple of bay-leaves and a bit of tomato puree - also very good with a poached egg on top!! @OurJud - I think most UK supermarkets sell sauerkraut - usually in a jar - Sainsbury's and Tesco certainly do - it is just white cabbage shredded and pickled with salt.
You do realize that it takes roughly the same amount of time to drive from London to Brussels as it does for me to drive from my place to Toronto. You could literally try "the" authentic stuff with the same amount of effort it takes for me to find a kosher shop.
Seeking flavours of the vinegar cabbage man shall return to Aldi for they have the sauerkraut And not to Brussels, you div! Where the Belgians live..
If you were any sort of quality people, you'd realize that those of @Shenanigator's class never soil their hands in the kitchen. Hell, they rarely soil their hands with paying their help
I’m not actually cooking. My mom, bless her, picked me up & dropped off some sushi so I’ll be having that for lunch. But I suddenly really want to have curry on fries. I’ve never done that before, but for some reason it theoretically sounds like exactly what I want.
Probably the best for fries. I could see that easily working since it's basically the consistency of gravy, and gravy on fries is pretty good as well.
I second the mmm had spaghetti and meatballs tonight. No garlic bread though. Also RC Cola because any other soda is trash.....fight me on it, I`ve never had Japanese curry. I've had Indian curry from my sister in law (from India) and Jamaican curry from a friend who`s from..,..well Jamaica. The friend was actually making and selling it as a side hustle for a while. Gotta add Japanese curry to the curry bucket list though, maybe not with fries. I have a coworker from Trinidad who wants me to try some of her curry. Probelly at the next work potluck
I am evolving. Gone are the days of using jarred tomato sauce. No more Ragu for this bastard, oh no, today I am making Ziti with beef using my homemade tomato sauce. I'm using San Marzano tomatoes this time. Take that, Ragu, you just lost another costumer. Started it now so it should be done.....sometime today.
Today probably just something simple. Last night though, artichokes fried up with eggs and salomni, and potatoes. Bad grammar but delicious meal.
I'd like to say I haven't used prepared pasta sauce in years, but sometimes we see an interesting combination listed and buy it just to get a feel for the flavor profile before making it ourselves. Pretty darn easy actually.
Mashed potatoes and a Jamaican beef patty. With a very small helping of sherbet for dessert....because the rest was to touch for my plastic spoon because I was to lazy to get it....and to lazy to wash a real spoon.
Now? It's like 10:30pm, so I'm just going to have a donut or some light chocolate. Last night, I baked some fish, had some white rice, and steamed vegetables, with a glass of iced green tea. ...second thought, maybe I'll cook a second dinner tonight.
