Overnight, our 20000th member, MitsukiKoyama, registered on writingforums.org. The first message on the site was posted on 23 February, 2006. The 2000th member joined on 10 September, 2007, and the 3000th member joined on 1 February, 2008, nearly 5 months later. In contrast, our 19000th member joined on 9 July, 2010, only 41 days ago. Members come, and members go. Obviously we don't have 20000 active members, but we do have an excellent group of members still here. It's been quite a ride, and the best is yet to come!
Sigh. That's 20000 of us here all competing with each other and with every other writer in the world for a share of the limited number of the human race's eyeball-seconds of reading attention ... Still, congrats to this forum, and especially to Cogito and the other mods who run it so well!
i'll look at this as the donut, not the hole, minstrel... and see a pool of 20,000 new writers out of which may come a replacement for at least one of our best who'll be 'leaving us' for that great library in the sky... waytago, wf.org-folk!!!
Well done Writing forums, hope it's does well. In the future, also remember Minstrel, mammamia is right, the best will leave, while the new ones replace them. One of my favourite quotes wrote was: When one dies, a new life begins. I hope we can still have this success.
Huzzah! Congratulations WF! I truly enjoy this forum and the people here. I'm delighted to be a part of it.
Okay, that's the number that appears when I hover my mouse over my name. Thanks. But there is no escaping it member number 1349
For some reason, I just get a bunch of "no results" when I hover my mouse over names. Oh well, knowing me, I'll probably figure out the obvious sooner or later.
I figured out how to do it, but for me it wasn't as obvious as the way you mentioned. I have to right click the link, select properties, and viola! I am member 11197... a sort of boring number actually. Thankfully we don't go by them. Just imagine the confusion!
"I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own. I resign." God, I love The Prisoner. Signed, #18771. Where is my pennyfarthing badge and festive costume?
#8326. WF middle aged? I dont feel like I've been around long enough for 12000 more members to have joined. teh interwebz so huge. Congrats, wf.org! I didnt realize we had so many members.
Congratulations WF I am more than pleased with the forums. I am eighteen thousand and something. But that does not bother me; for in my head I am still 18. Ah! eighteen that was my best year. Get me drunk sometime and I'll tell you all about it and the one that got away. Talking about drink why don't we: all 19,999 of us take Mitsukikoyama out for a night on the town? I'm game. Maybe one of you could come up a with good Idea for member 20,000 annunciation ceremony.
Congratz to to WF! This place has been such a great resource and I have learned a ton of stuff. Just checked my number and it somehow feels off that I am only 11108. I almost expected to be well above 15k. Then again it hasn't felt like I signed up over a year ago. Which is probably because its only been in recent months have made this a regular place to hang out. lol
Just curious, how many of these members are active members? Aka, members who are not banned and have been posting in the last 2 months. EDIT: Actually, I did a little research of my own, and the number of members that have posted within the last two months comes to a nice 1052.
