I found this great writing prompt in Natalie Goldberg's Writing Down the Bones and wanted to share it. The idea is to pick one item /theme or verb - anything from pencils on your desk to something as broad as feelings like anger or love or an action like kiss. Then take three minutes and write three lines about this item/theme/action. Here's a couple I did. Highlighters Markers in a clown cup neon shades to highlight Things best forgotten Peach Earthborn sun Fuzzed and sprouting from tree-limb scent of sugared-kiss What makes this prompt great is that it allows you to be focused but concise.
