Hey all! I'm Warrior Poet. I guess I'll start with the basics here - I'm a dude, and I love to write. I love to read, which is why I love to write. You can look at my profile for other stuff I love. It's nice to meet all of you! I read all sorts of stuff, basically anything that's good and not erotic (gross).I'm a hopeless romantic and I so respect the girls I know...I just don't understand how people can actually enjoy that. My prose can get pretty violent and bloody, if the story calls for it. I'll warn you early if it does. I mostly end up writing realistic fiction, spiritual stuff, love, and fantasy. A lot of times I'll combine three of those four to create the epic romances I'm infamous for. I don't call them that, my friends do I've been writing as long as i've been reading, which is as long as I can remember, really. I've completed a few novels, which I'm pretty proud of. Hopefully some of you would like to read the whole thing. It was a school project so it's not like there's any hope of getting published, but it's a really good read. I think so, anyway. You might guess from my name - I write a lot of poems/lyrics whatever. I work pretty hard on them, so I hope you'll enjoy. I'm into a lot of different stuff besides the writing. BBQ and other hyper teenager things and playing guitar and all that. I mostly hang out on another writing forum but it's getting slow and this site looks really cool, hopefully I can give and get more feedback. I hold my own writing to pretty high standards and I'd be glad to read anything you guys are writing. It's a great forum, but I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to link to it I read the rules and all that, so I'll post some of my stuff after my reviews. Posting of entire novels is discouraged, but is it OK? Especially since there's no hope of that one being published anyway. Wow, that was a pretty long-winded intro. You'll get used to that.
Hey, and welcome. May have been a long winded intro, but it was good and interesting all the same. I don't know if you can post whole novels, I think you can only post excerpts but you'd have to check with a mod. I wouldn't advise posting a whole novel though - it'll be hard to read that amount on screen and there's the publishing thing you said. So I wouldn't if I were you.
Hey Warrior Poet! Welcome. I'm new aswell, and really interested in writing poetry & short stories. We should maybe talk about Co-writing I've heard its pretty fun when working with someone else sometimes, although I know your own imagination & work is very precious to anyone. Well, welcome! I hope you find this web forum useful to improve your writing and get great reviews.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Thanks, lol. Glad you enjoyed it. Cowriting, Joe? That sounds fun. Maybe we can do that sometime. I imagine it'll be a story, not a poem. Hard to co-write a poem, yeah?
Hello Warrior Poet, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Please read How to Use the Review Room before you post there. Posting your own writing for people to comment on should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out the RPG forum for improvisational fiction. Also try our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Thanks friends. I like it here already - nice, intelligent people and pretty active too! I haven't been part of a site active enough for real role playing for a while. Imma like it here.
I'd have to say it just like this: You're awesome!... I see how people here enjoy your presence. I better go back to my introduction topic and talk a bit more about who I am!
