This as per Dizzyspell's question.... According to Dictionary.com: trait (treɪt, treɪ)— n 1. a characteristic feature or quality distinguishing a particular person or thing Sample traits from readwritethink.org: able active adventurous affectionate afraid alert ambitious angry annoyed anxious apologetic arrogant attentive average bad blue bold bored bossy brainy brave bright brilliant busy calm careful careless cautious charming cheerful childish clever clumsy coarse concerned confident confused considerate cooperative courageous cowardly cross cruel curious dangerous daring
But couldn't you see being daring (for example) as a combination of being confident, brave and ambitious? I know this is getting off topic, but it confuses me a bit.
Down to Earth definition from here. (doun'tū-ûrth', -tə-) adj. 1. Realistic; sensible. 2.a. Not pretentious or affected; straightforward. 2.b. Not overly ornate; simple in style. Does that make sense to you?
I think of daring as being bold, but yes I can see how other people's definition's would be different.
It makes sense that it's a combination of multiple traits, yes. You see it differently. That's fine. We can agree to disagree.
But bold is also on the list? I don't know. Guess we're just splitting hairs now, as a trait (whatever it is) doesn't mean much without a coherent personality, which by definition needs a combination of traits anyway.
LOL! Good point I guess I always think of that superhero or whatever it was (I actually can't remember just hear that narrator's voice in my head) saying "He was bold and daring..." ROFL. I think that's where my association comes from.
What you've described though is that the character grows. I don't think flaws make a character like able I believe that it's the characters ability to change or grow or make some effort in that regard that makes the character either like able or not.
